Chester COOLEY and Rev. Finis PACK officiating. She was born Feb. 16, 1909 in Goleta, Mo. To Samuel Aden BLANKENSHIP and Martha “ Mattie” (HUGHES) BLANKENSHIP and died March 18 at Wetumka General Hospital at the age of 92. She and her family moved to Wetumka when she was 10 years old in 1919, She loved to tell the story of the move because they came by covered wagon. She was bright up in Wetumka and attended the old Sunnydale, Mingo and Coachman schools. She was baptized in the North Canadian River and attended the Assembly of God Church in Wetumka. She married Lee Riley COOK in June of 1928 and he preceded her in death. Mrs. COOK worked at Wetumka’s Ranch-O-Tel Café most of her life until she retired in 1980 due to illness. She was a busy lady, always working in her yard and helping take care of her children, grandchildren and extended family. Her door was always open for visitors and she loved Wetumka. Mrs. COOK loved to entertain at family gatherings with stories of “old Wetumka.” She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Edsel BLANKENSHIP, Elxie BLANKENSHIP, Carl Eugene BLANKENSHIP and Johnny Lewis BLANKENSHIP; a sister Hazel BLANKENSHIP MARTIN’ and three granddaughters, Rhonda Sue KINNAMON, Vickie BRANNEN and Kathy Jean ANDERSON. Survivors include one son, Lowell Dean COOK and wife, Amelia COOK, of Wetumka; four daughters, Wanda WASHBURN, Virginia GROVE and Jeanette HARRELL, all of Wetumka and Evalina LAVALLEY of Tecumseh; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Florence ADKINS of Wetumka and Rancia “Bill” COOK of Richmond, Ca.; along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Dale MCCALLIE Jr., Larry Jack TONY, J. C. WASHBURN, David HALL, Randy HIMKLEY, Carl HINKLEY and Tommy LAVALLEY. Interment was in the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.
