Bill Black and Rev. Leroy ORR officiating. He was born Jan. 27, 1916 at Buffalo, east of Calvin, to Denton and Mary Etta MAULDIN and died July 5. Mr. MAULDIN was raised at Calvin and attended school at Hilltop in Calvin. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan in World War II. Mr. MAULDIN worked in the oilfields for 26 years and served as sheriff of Hughes County from 1971 to 1975. Later he worked as road supervisor for Hughes County district three and retired July 1, 1983. He was still serving as reserve deputy for Hughes County at the time of his death. Mr. MAULDIN was a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church of Calvin. He was also a 32nd degree Mason in Calvin Lodge #221. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denton and Mary Etta MAULDIN, six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Opal, of the home; sons, David and wife , Carol MAULDIN of Muskogee and Rick and wife, Peggy MAULDIN of Oklahoma City; stepson, Don and wife, Cheryl, WILKES of Dallas, Tx.; brothers, Vernon MAULDIN of Holdenville and Doyle MAULDIN of Houston, Tx.; sisters, Omelia FIELDS of Wewoka and Gladys MARTIN of Albuquerque, NM.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and beloved friends, Jay and Leroy ORR. Pallbearers were his nephews, Don and Ronnie FIELDS, Stanley, Steve, Eugene, Randy, Danny, Benny, Wayne and David MAULDIN. Honorary pallbearers were J. B. LOWE, Sam MCCLURE, Jack COPPAGE, Bob PACE, Bill HOWELL, Jack CHAPMAN, Gail DOCKERY, Elvin LINDLEY and Jim KEIFER. Interment was in Calvin Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.
