He was born Nov. 17, 1932 in Atwood to James and Nell BOREN and died Dec. 23, 2000 at his home in Hanford, Ca. at the age of 68, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Mr. BOREN moved to California in 1950. He served in the Armed Forces for six years. Mr. BOREN was an auto mechanic all his life and worked for various auto dealerships. In 1976 he and his wife Mary, built their own auto repair shop, BOREN Automotive Center, which he operated until ill health forced him to sell in 1985. After retiring, he followed his dreams and returned to the Oklahoma hills where he lived six years. When he was stricken with cancer, he and his wife returned to California to be near his family. Mr. BOREN was preceded in death by a son, Eddie ABBOTT. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Mary; two sons, William BOREN Jr. and wife, Denise, of Coarsegold, Ca. and Mark BOREN and wife Jo, of Palmdale, Ca.; two daughters, Mary and husband, Richard PITMAN of Fresno, Ca. and Lorri MATTOS of Hanford, Cal; a brother, Jerry BOREN and wife, Merelyn, of Fresno, Ca.; two sisters, Jimmey and husband, John KINCADE and Karen and husband, Stephen HAMETT of Clovis, Ca.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Denny BOREN and wife, Carolyn, and their children, Dana and Dusty, of Oklahoma along with other relatives in Oklahoma. Remembrances may be sent to the Adventist Home Health Hospice, 823 W. Lacey Blvd., Hanford, Ca. 93230. Interment was in the Grangeville Cemetery in Armona, Ca. under the direction of Farwell Funeral Service in Fresno, Ca.
