Alec BUCK, Rev. J. B. FISH and Newman CROWELS officiating. She was born March 18, 1922 in Wetumka to Freeman CROWELS and Katie JOHN CROWELS and died Jan. 18 at her home in Tulsa at the age of 78. She grew up in the Wetumka area and attended Mingo school. Following her graduation from the Wetumka school system, she relocated to Chicago, Ill., where she married and made her home for many years. Ms. CROWELS was a homemaker but had also worked in the dry cleaning business. In 1982 she returned to Oklahoma and settled in Tulsa. She was a long time member of the Wetumka Indian Baptist Church. Ms. CROWELS loved to cook and sew and animals were very special to her. She would often nurse dogs and cats back to health and find homes for them. If no home could be found she would many times keep them herself. She is also remembered for her giving nature and as one who loved helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Newman, Richard and Amos. Survivors include a sister, Sally WENNER OF Oklahoma City; two sisters-in-law, Nora CROWELS of Sapulpa and Millie CROWELS SCOTT of Yeager; Alfred WOMACK of Tulsa; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were Steve REED, Freddie CROWELS, David CROWELS, Newman CROWELS, Steve CROWELS and Gary CTITZER. Interment was in the Wetumka Indian Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.
