JUSTICE Funeral services for Marshall L. “Catline” JUSTICE, a long-time Holdenville businessman, were held Dec. 17 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Meredith ROBINSON and Rev. Doyle CLENNEY officiating. He was born March 8, 1919 in Dustin, the son of Mary Elizabeth (HIX) JUSTICE and Claude JUSTICE and died Dec. 13 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 82. His father worked in the oilfield, so his boyhood years were spent in various locations throughout Oklahoma and Texas. After attending many and carried schools in the region, his school years were completed at Bowlegs. In Wewoka in 1935, at the age of 16, he owned and operated his successful ice delivery business. He married Bonnie HUDSON at Meeker on Oct. 28, 1939 and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1977. Mr. JUSTICE began drilling in the oilfield at age 21, with his career interrupted in 1943 by World War II and a call from Uncle Sam. He served in the U. S. Army as a 1st Sergeant overseeing prisoners of war, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. Back in Oklahoma after his military service, he returned to oilfield drilling until 1957, when he went to work for Chapman Oil Company located east of Holdenville, and at the same time established his own business, The JUSTICE Shop, known in Holdenville and surrounding communities for sales and service of lawn mowers. Mr. JUSTICE retired from The JUSTICE Shop and left it in the hands of his son, Ron, in 1982, but continued to work as a rancher and oilfield pumper until he was 79 years old, officially retiring in 1998. Mr. JUSTICE was happiest when he was working, and even in his spare time loved to work on the ranch or overhaul his equipment. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Holdenville, where he served as a deacon for more than 40 years. He also served as president of the Baptist Brotherhood Association. Mr. JUSTICE was a charter member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the American Legion. Mr. JUSTICE was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary JUSTICE; his wife, Bonnie; his sister, Mary BURR; and two infant sons. Survivors include his son, Ron JUSTICE and wife, June, of Holdenville; four grandchildren, Wayne Keith JUSTICE and wife Gina, of San Antonio, Tx., Jaynee BUSS and husband, Paul, of Dallas, Tx., Jason JACKSON of Moore and Paige EDMISTON and husband, Robert, of Holdenville; three great-grandchildren, Jack BUSS, Ciara JUSTICE and Arianna JUSTICE; and other relatives. Interment was in Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
