Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nYB.2ACE/386.432 Message Board Post: In the Calvin history book, published in 1997, it states that the name was changed from Riverside to Calvin on "June 24, 1895 in honor of Calvin Perry whose homestead the town occupied. The town platt was approved by the Choctaw Nation in July 1900." There is no mention of whether or not he was Indian. My uncle, who still lives there, tells me that there is still a marker indicating the site of the original town, but it is on private land now.
