    1. [OKHUGHES] From List Mom - Please Read: Regarding Again Closing the Lists.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members: We are mourning and will be mourning for a long while, the tragedy which happened to us this week. I, as you, hurt and want to cry out and scream to the world "that something has to be done", "we hurt", "why". Those who lost loved ones will continue to need the support of their fellow man while they either wait for word of of their missing or are burying their dead. I expect no less of each one of us and the days pass. The time has come though, for us to begin the process of trying to live our lives in some kind of normalcy, by trying to slowly bring our lists back to the topic for which they are designed. Therefore as I opened the lists for you to express your grief, I now, most respectfully, and with sorrow, ask that you help me bring them back to the topic of the list. Today is the last day for posting of your feelings and thoughts to the list regarding the tragedy. If you have not had the chance or have felt strong enough to share you feelings with us you can still post them at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=usa-tragedy.mourning I want to thank each of you for the manner in which you held our flag high this past week, for the manner in which you shared your sorrow, for the manner in which you shared your grief without attacking one another or any culture. I especially want to thank those members who hurt as badly as those who posted regarding what has happened in their world, but could not deal with seeing this horror on their genealogy list. They never said a negative word, but let those who needed this time and this way to express their sorrow have it. These members were true friends to each of us. I ask now that each of you help me to again close the lists to any topic other than the topic of the list as of tomorrow morning, Sunday, September 16th, 2001. I appreciate each of you and thank you for the support I am given by each of you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Dear List Members, we the human race experienced the full force of hatred today. The horror that was acted out upon the United States, does not only effect us, but it effects all man kind. Today we saw true hatred and world will never be the same. I ask each of you to be understanding for the next few days while messages are being posted to the lists that do not deal with the topic of the list. Many of our members live alone - and we, their fellow list members are their families. They need to talk, they need to express their shock at what has happened to their world they need to connect with their fellow man - those they know who care. If your system cannot deal with the extra e-mail, you might want to unsubscribe for a few days and then subscribe again. As a reminder, to unsubscribe send only the word UNSUBSCRIBE to XXXXXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM or XXXXXXXX-D-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM depending on if you are on the Digest or the Regular list. XXXXXXX being the name of the list. Please remember to re-subscribe when this is all over. I set here in Utah and cry for those who are suffering tonight. I was blessed. You can connect use http://216.10.103.21/ to connect to ancestry.com Thank you for your patience during this crisis." PLEASE do not post to the list if it does not work and PLEASE do not post to the list that Ancestry is down. 1. [OKHUGHES] From List Mom - Informative site - and other items.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, I was sent this site by a fellow researcher "Index to the Guion Miller Roll" http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/guionmiller/index.htm I found it very interesting - and thought I would pass it on to you. Now for the other items. This message is being sent out to all of my list, some which only have 3 members and some with almost 1000. If you are one of my smaller lists and feel that you only hear from me, why don't you take this opportunity to send a query to the list. If you need help from me, please put something in the subject line to alert me that the message is a request for help. When I am at work during the day I use http://www.mail2web.com from my office computer to keep an eye on my lists. I can only read the subject line from there and unless I open each and every message which most times are in the hundreds by 10 am in the morning. This is two time consuming while at work. So, to repeat, if you need my help, please place something in the subject line so that I will know your request needs attention quickly. One more item, It is time or about time when most children are heading back to school and many Moms and or Dads who are staying home now have additional time to work on their genealogy. If we begin to get messages across the lists that do not conform to the guidelines we have for our list, please just let them pass. Remember I am behind the scenes taking care of these problems, helping members subscribe and unsubscribe and reminding members of the guidelines of the list. The only time I send out corrections to the entire list is when the entire list is involved or when one of our members is being attached on the list - I then come to the defense in the same place the attack took place -- On the list. Enjoy the site - Thank you for your continued support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. RE: [OKHUGHES] County Records
    2. Vickie Neill Taylor
    3. As far as the court house records, you won't be able to find any thing prior to 1907, statehood. There are some news papers that go a little farther back but you'll have to have dates for those. The Hughes County Historical Museum has an index for all obit printed I think it begins in 1908 to 1975 with these years on microfilm. The Hudson, Mackey, Arnold and Arnold-Heady Funeral records indexes are online on the Hughes Co. site for the years of 1911 to 1929. The url is http://www.rootsweb.com/~okhughes/hughes.htm .You'll be able to search other Hughes Co. info there as well. Let me know if I can be of help to you. Vickie Neill Taylor flip@okplus.com

Surnames: TAYLOR, EISENHOWER Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nYB.2ACE/791 Message Board Post: Holdenville Daily News, Friday Feb. 25, 1955 pg. 1 Ike Sends Greetings To City Resident On 100th Birthday The "only president we have had since the Civil War" has sent his best wishes to Mrs. Emma TAYLOR. She is 100 years old today. She won't back up that quote with elaboration but it is only one of many pronounced views Mrs. TAYLOR has on subjects ranging from politics to religion. As far as anyone could determine this week, Mrs. TAYLOR is the oldest living resident in Holdenville at the present. Today she is celebrating the occasion with a big Birthday party and an open house from 1 until 5 p.m. There will be more than one cake she has been told but she doesn't know who is going to bake them. "Please accept my sincere congratulations upon your birthday. May good health be yours through many more happy years. Dwight D. EISENHOWER" Mrs. TAYLOR has the run of the house at 208 N. Kelker, where she lives with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. TAYLOR, and although she will hardly admit, she is pretty spry compared to any other 100-year-old we know. She gets around with out a cane most of the time inside the house, has given up reading almost because of her eyesight is not too good, but she watches the fights regularly on TV "because Colonel (her son) does and I have to stay up too." More spectacular is the fly trip she made to California this past summer to see two of her sons. It was the first trip by airplane and she enjoyed it and says now that is she could afford it she would never travel any other way. A few months before that she went to California and back by automobile wasn't tired she says, but you waste more time than when you travel by plane. Asked how she managed to keep so healthy through the 100 years, she let the reporter know quickly she was no spring chicken actually. Thirty years ago she says she broke her back but didn't know it for 10 years and it still bothers her. Incidentally, she hates cigarets. Not because the tobacco that's inside but because she considers the cigaret to blame for her broken back. She was in a wagon with her son when he left momentarily to light a cigaret. The mules gave a jerk causing her to fall to the ground and injured her back so she hates cigarets. She is grateful that she can still get around, however. Perhaps that's because she was "an obedient child to my parents," and also that "God is taking care of me." Following that up with a question about her religion, she says she doesn't "belong to any church". She has a non-denominational soul, but attend the Harvest Time Tabernacle. Like many of us would like to be at 100 perhaps, she is not ruled by any hard-set daily routine. She simply gets up when she feels like it-from 8a.m. to 10 a.m.- and goes to bed when she gets sleepy, which is normally around 11 o'clock. She take a nap in the day-time usually. This television is "all non-sense to me" she said she asked what her favorite program is, but her son and daughter-in-law reminded her of the fights she watches regularly, and a circus program. She admits the fights are pretty good but not the wrestling! The fights she believes, are much like the ones she used to witness long ago, and one of her sons was in the circus once, which accounts for her devotion to Super-Circus. Both her parents died in their early 40's, which cannot account for her longevity. She is related, indirectly to some famous Indians, although she has little Indian blood. She is a cousin of Cynthia Ann (wife of Quanah) PARKER. Her uncle and grandfather were killed at the door to a log cabin when Cynthia Ann was captured. She has three sons living, 31 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren. He other two sons are W. S. TAYLOR of Sears, California and E. O. TAYLOR of Pomona, California.
