    3. I should have been clear: I was born there in 1943 while my father was in Europe in the Army. My mother, Margaret Roberts, my grandparents Horace and Ora Grigsby Roberts, their daughters, and who knows who else, went to California to work in the war industry. I grew up in central California, in and around Modesto, and only visited Wetumka much later, as an adult. I went by the old Roberts farmhouse where I was born. I've been to it a few times, for the Roberts reunions in Ada, at my father's funeral, and a couple of personal visits. But I haven't lived there since infancy. I had kin there a few years ago, but I don't know anyone there now. 3. Please excuse me for butting in to your exchange, but I have some information which may be relevant. I am from Wetumka myself and have many lines linked to Hughes Co. In my records, Ralph Edgar Beasley married Cora Adline Graves on November 20, 1909 in Wetumka. Cora Adline Graves was born in Conway County, Arkansas, daughter of Jess Graves and Dulcina Leona Palestine Roberts. Dulcina was born in Conway County, AR on August 5, 1872. Her mother and father were Amos Pleasant Roberts and Mary Adline Andrews, from Tuscaloosa and Fayette Cos., AL. They migrated to Conway Co. in late 1867 from Fayette Co., AL. I descend from a brother of Dulcina's, John Mathis Roberts. Jess Graves was born in Indiana on August 25, 1868. Jess' brother, John Graves, married Martha Adline Margraves, d/o Matilda Roberts Margraves, sister to Dulcina. I got a lot of this information some years ago from Beasleys who attended the annual Roberts reunion in Ada, OK. Six or seven years ago I published a book on the Roberts family and related lines. I did some searching through my records this morning (unfortunately, I had a computer hard drive to crash a few years ago and years of info. was lost in my genealogy records, but fortunately I had kept all the documents and papers containing the info. and have been working on re-intering it all, but still not finished!!!). I did find that Landis Sumac Beasley had a son named Ralph but am still looking for additional info. on who Ralph married, etc... do you know your Ralph's date or place of birth? or any other of his family members were? In the meantime I will keep searching my records, which is a mess because again they are all documents and info on paper stored in boxes and notebooks, YIKS!!! but again as you said Wetumka is a small town and I cant help but think my Beasley and yours are related somehow, since they both lived there. Will be in touch. Kathy

    3. My great-great-grandmother, Mattie Calvert Lester, is buried at Spring Creek Cemetery which is on the grounds of what is now an Indian church north of Calvin. I don't recall the exact name of the church, but the name you give sounds right. The cemetery and church were off of a winding dirt road north of Calvin, and the cemetery was to the east of the church. If we're talking about the same place, it's also known as Spring Creek Cemetery. A transcription of the headstone information is at the Oklahoma Historical Society Library, and probably the Holdenville Library as well.
