There is a Stover School south of Rush Springs near the Stephens County Line. My mother went there. It was named for Theodore Stover. It was on land donated by him. I don't remember where I read it, but the first Stover in Grady/Stephens county worked on the Chisholm Trail cattle drives. He liked the land and on the way back to Texas he settled in the area. This was probably Theodore's father as Theodore was born in 1875. If it was Theodore he was real young on the drive. The last large drive over the trail was in 1887. After the land Rush of 1889, there was no more open land for cattle drives. Theodore is buried in Resthaven Cemetery is Duncan. There are other Stovers in the Ninnekah and Rose Hill Cemeteries. I have a lot of Stover's living in and around Chickasha from 1900 to the present. My Mother Helen Stover was born in Pocasset, Ok. I've read about Theodore Stover but don't have him connected with my stover line as of yet.
