Hill, head of household, white, male, age 51, born in Arkansas. Both his parents were born in Arkansas. He is a farmer and was first married at the age of 24. Abbie Hill, wife, white, female, age 41, born in Texas. Both her parents were born in Texas. She was first married at the age of 15. Beatrice Hill, daughter, white, female, age 16, born in Texas. Gayden Hill, son, white, male, age 14, born in Oklahoma. The George W. Hill buried in Rush Springs is not the correct one. He is born in Kansas and has no mention of a son in his obituary.
Hello, Thank you so much for the info. but I don't think these are the same Hill's. My Charlie Hill is probably the only one in his family buried in Grady Co. Okla. According to his death certificate it states he was buried in Amber, Okla. The undertaker was Sowers Funeral Home in Tuttle, Okla. We moved back to Rush Springs in 1965. I don't remember a honky-tonk. Going back to the pre-statehood years, there was the Blue Goose Saloon that was just west of the 98th Meridian on what is now State Highway 17. Sale of alcohol was illegal in the Indian Territory and a lot of bars sprang up on the Oklahoma Territory side of the border.

Arkansas and died in Grady Co. Oklahoma in 1939. His parents were George W. Hill and Eliza Jane McElroy Hill. His wife was Abbie R. Hill. I believe my Grandfather may have worked for him in the early 1920's in Sequoyah Co. Okla. and Charles may be related to some of my relatives. I would appreciate any information.

It may have been a little further south of where your relatives lived?? Thanks again.

Surnames: Phillips, Sharp, Young, Ball Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kYB.2ACE/1793.1.2 Message Board Post: Here's a map with more detail. Until statehood, most of this area was part of Comanche County. Look at the right side of the map for the line that goes from the top to bottom of the map. It's marked Indian near the top and Oklahoma near the bottom. This is the 98th meridian which was the dividing line between the Chickasaw Nation and the Oklahoma Territory. Find the word Indian on the map. It is inside Section 12. Section 13 is directly below it. Where section 12 & 13 meet the roads marked look like a "T". The black squares are houses. My grandparents (Phillips) lived in the house at the bottom of the "T". My grandfather's son lived in the house to the south of them. My grandmother's parents (Sharp) lived in the house below the left arm of the "T". My great-grandmother's brother (Young) lived across the road. William Ball lived in the house to the above the right arm of the "T". I don't know exactly where Starr School is, but I have been told that is is due west of where my grandparents lived. Starr was a county school. I would have went there, but it closed at the end of the 56-57 school year. I started school in 1957. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/okprojects/grady/grady-3n-8w-cem.gif
