Hello... I'm new to the list. Is there anyone that would be able to obtain an obituary for me for the following person?: Howard Richard "Dick" ALCORN - Age 79 Died: 15 Sep 1970, Chickasaw, Grady Co., OK (wife: Clara) I would also be interested in hearing from anyone with connections to Dick. I have some of his ALCORN ancestry to share and will hopefully be gathering more. His parents had 7 sons and 2 daughters. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bev in Calif.

And one additional note, I DO recall that Leo's sister-in-law was ADA, as YOU list. Glendora was near where we lived in Covina, where Ada's husband died or was buried. I wonder if Ada is still living. My mother (she'll be 85 next mos) still fondly recalls her conversations with Ada.

I'm sure this is the same man named in your post. However, he was born in 1913, not 1914, I'm sure of that. My mom agrees. He was born the same yr as my dad. My mother was married to him for 4 yrs in the early 1960's in Covina, So. CALIF. Leo was a construction worker and had a daughter named LOUELLA LEE CARAWAY from a previous marriage. I only met her once in Hollywood where she lived and worked. Her birth yr would have been abt. 1937. I did a search on her name and discovered she ended up becoming a writer for the tv show Dallas and such. Think I found her deceased in my searches on the internet, several years ago. Leo was supposed to have drowned I was told, in Okla I believe, when he fell off a boat. He married after my mother (divorced abt 1973) and had a son (only son), I was told. I don't know his name or age. My mother used to keep in touch with Leo's sister or sister-in-law in CA but she's probably not with us! any longer either. Hope this helps.

"FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR CHRISTIAN HANSEN Funeral service for Christian Hansen, one of Lincoln county's foreign-born citizens, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Columbia Friends church, north of Chandler. Reverand Carr, pastor of the Columbia Friends church, officiated. Interment was made in the Osage cemetery near Agra with the Gayman-Sutton-Downing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Christian Hansen was born in the little village of Uledee, of Denmark, on April 2, 1858. He came to America at the age of 22, and although at the time of his arrival in New York City he could speak no English, he overcame this handicap so thoroughly that he taught school for a time in Kansas. Soon after his arrival in this country he was converted and joined the Friends church. Later he became a recorded minister in this faith and continued to work in the church until old age and ill health prevented. He married Miss Frances Whitney at Friends Academy, Washington, Kansas. To this union, ten children were born, all of whom are living. Besides the widow, Mrs. Myrtle Hansen of Tryon, Oklahoma, the children are; Capt. Ralph Hansen, a prisoner of war in Japan; Roscoe and John of Tulare, California; Bud of Pueblo, Colorado; Max and Robert of Tryon; Mrs. Helen Moore of Tryon; Mrs. Mildred Dennison of Bakersfield, California; Mrs. Hazel Bowers of San Diego, California; and Mrs. Mabel Booth of Tonopah, Nevada. In addition, there are 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, three of the grandchildren having preceded him in death. He leaves also a brother, Peter, of Tonganoxie, Kansas and a sister, Sophia, in Denmark. He died quietly in the Cushing hospital at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 7 days. Besides the relatives, a host of friends and neighbors regret the passing of one whose life and service to his fellow men furnished a living testimony of his walk with the Master." It is a very old looking empty house. I am not familiar enough with the street names in Rush Springs. We were passing through on our way to Marlow after locating my great grandmother burial site in Rush Springs cemetery. I called to see if any records were available and a fire had burned all the previous records. I have her funeral information, but there was not much information on it. Her name on the headstone is Lorena Wright, but I have found in the census records where she was also wife of a Jennings. I have found Bennett and Lorina Wright located on the 1910 census in Cross Township, but have been unable to do more research on it. I also found my grandparents Claud and Bessie Wright on the 1930 census in Starr Township. Any information which you find I would love to have especially on my great grandmother side of the family. There is very little information about them left with th! e existing family members. The census information is very confusing when one states she was born in Ark, but have been unable to find her on the 1880 census by Lorena Williams which I have been told was her maiden name. I was hoping any information found on deeds or anything else would conclude her maiden name was Williams and her true name was Lorena Williams Wright. Here is all the information which I have been told on them. They lived on a farm in Grady county just north of Marlow where the county line is. Their children are Flossie, Leonard, Claud, Albert, Walter, Willie C., Bessie. I know Bennett Wright left his family and moved to California when the children were young.

I find a Christian Hanson in Lincoln County, Osage Township in in the 1910 census. His wife is named Myrtle, native of Illinois. The copy is difficult to read, but it appears that it is a family of six boys and three girls. I think the oldest child is named Ralph and the youngest, Robert. The six oldest children were born in Kansas, so looking at the ages of the children, it appears they moved to Oklahoma between 1901-1905. In 1900, you'll find the family living in Jefferson County, Union Township, KS. The children are sons, Ralph, Roscoe, and Caryl, and daughters, Helen and Hazel.
