I would check with a funeral home in Chickasha. Or one of the monument companies. I ordered a headstone for my wife's grave from the monument company outside the north gate of Rose Hill in Chickasha said he didn't need to tell me where the grave was. He had ways of finding it. I was able to check later and it was on exactly the right spot. I'll call Sevier Funeral Home. If they don't have one they might know who would. When we went to the Chickasha Monument Company across from Rose Hill they sent us to City Hall for locations. I got plats for Fairlawn and Rose Hill from there. --- Gene Phillips <[email protected]> wrote: > I would check with a funeral home in Chickasha. Or one of the monument companies. Hi All: Does anyone know of or have a plat for Naples Cemetery? The cemetery, unfortunately, is high in weeds again and a family member would like to be able to find the graves of his people there. It was located west of Minco. I don't know exactly where the school was, but Oak Hill cemetery is 8 miles west of Minco on Hwy 37, then 3-1/2 miles south. I went out to Oak Hill Cemetery last year and there is nothing out there to indicate where a school may be located. Hardly any of the old country schools are left. Around Rush Springs some people took up a project to mark the sites of the old schools, but I haven't heard it they expanded it to the rest of the county. There was not an obituary, but there was a newspaper story about his suicide. The Verden News June 23, 1916 JOE ROGERS COMMITS SUICIDE Joe Rogers, of the Mt. View vicinity committed suicide by cutting his throat with his pocket knife, about 12 o'clock Saturday night at the home of his brother-in-law, H. G. Bishop, who lives 5 1/2 miles south west of Verden. Joe Rogers in company with his uncle, W. P. Sherwood, arrived at the Bishop home Saturday afternoon, and had only been there a few hours. Dr. Jones of Verden was called soon afterwards, but he died about twenty minutes before the physician arrived. He lived an hour or more and conversed with the people in the house. Refused to give any reason for committing such a rash act. A note, found in his pocket after his death, bade all his people good-bye. Deceased was thirty-five years of age and leaves an aged mother as well as other relatives to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the grave Monday evening conducted by Rev. Anderson and interment made in the Verden cemetery Note: He is buried in an unmarked grave in the Verden Cemetery. Hello, I am looking for an obituary that may have been written for Joseph Rodgers who died in Verden, Grady Co. on June 17, 1916. I believe he had a sister Aomitta (Mittie) who lived there at the time. If anyone has any information on this person or his family I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You, Eileen Rogers Mullins [email protected]
