Evans who was born in Tuttle, Grady Co., OK on 11 July 1906. He was the son of Golden Mattie Garrett and, I believe, Ray Evans. I am trying to find proof of his father's name. By the 1910 Grady Co. census Golden Evans was widowed with 3 sons in the household. Could someone tell me if Grady Co. has birth records from that time that might give me the father's name. Any information on them while in Grady Co., OK would be appreciated. I believe that Golden married Clarence E. Turner there and they then moved to Hennepin Co., MN. I have absolutely nothing on his first wife other than her name. There are a number of related Barnes buried at Fulton. My mother's mother is buried there with her first husband. Homer was my mother's father. Homer had a relationship with his cousin's widow and in 1923, my mother was the result. It is a story well known in my family - no secret. I never met him, and there is some question as to whether or not he even knew about her. Years ago I met a cousin of his who told me more about Homer's life. I'd like to share more information with you. Please contact me at [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you are intersted, I'll give you information on how I'm related to Homer. I have Homer's death certificate. He died in Amarillo, Potter County, TX. His residence was 610 North Banks, Pampa, Gray County, TX. His birth is listed as May 29, 1895 Chicago IL. His mother's name is wrong on the certificate. His father is listed as L. P. Barnes. He died in the Amarillo VA Hospital on November 29, 1964. Burial at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. His wife was Mattie, but I don't have her last name. All I've been told about her was that she was a "Mexican lady". They had one child, Vickie (b. 1938; d 1986, car accident, I believe)(married name Polson). Mattie had a daughter by a previous marriage whose name was Vernice (don't know last name). She died in Oklahoma. Dwayne Barnes (last known to be in Odessa TX) was raised by Homer and Mattie. Don't know if he was actually related or not. I have other information on the life of Homer, if you are interested. Please let me know.
