Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/kYB.2ACE/1627.1 Message Board Post: I did not see what I thought was an unwed mothers home in the 1930 census. There is an orphanage? at 1702 19th Street run by Alonzo Nunnery. There are 32 inmates, as it was called on the census, both male and female of all ages. Also a Catholic home mostly of nuns at 210 9th Street. And a home full of nurses, run by a doctor at 610 Choctaw Avenue. I found in the 1930 Oklahoma census, Muskogee county, Martin township, ED19-9A-6. Willie Carpenter, an adopted daughter, age 12, born in Oklahoma. Her parents were also born in Oklahoma. Also a sister, Leila Carpenter, an adopted daughter, age 9. There adopted family is W.T. Newton, age 44, born in Arkansas. He is a farmer and has been married for 22 years. His wife is Cleo, age 38, and four sons. Marvin, age 17; Raymond, age 14; L.D., age 11; and Julius D., age 4 years and 3 months.
