Susie [STOVER] TIBBETTS sometimes spelled TIBBITTS born 26 Aug 1882 died 6 June 1919 in Grady County. Interment was at Pocasset Cemetery 7 June 1919. The records at the Grady County Courthouse for this cemetery are lacking, too. The Chickasha Public Library has the original Book, but ALL of the records have been stolen. Here are a few sites that you can go to to ADD someone to this cemetery. They are all FREE! I was told by the City Manager....NO DEED....NO Marker!...and he stated to me that "we WILL continue to dig there". I have made several state, county, government, Indian Nations contacts to stop this from happening. The mayor and one councilman that I spoke to did not know that this was being done. I don't know what their issues are, I don't care, actually, I just want these old parts of this cemetery to remain closed. Today, it was brought to my attention from a relative in Tuttle, that the City of Tuttle had sold 4 plots in Section B of Fairview. <she just happened upon this information when she was paying the funeral home for my Gram's funeral> For those of you that are familiar with this cemetery, then you are aware that Section B is of the original <old> part. Front. This section has graves that were considered BABYLAND and graves there indicate babies/children buried there for over some 80+ years...etc..... The 'marked" graves in this same area are of 70/80 years old and indicate children. These graves, for the most part are Unmarked. They were burial lots before the City of Tuttle owned the Cemetery and most were hand buried. This section also holds Unknown individuals (Potter's Graves). The issue is the City recently sold 4 of these plots in Section B. I have spoken to one of the City Councilmen and he was not aware that the city had done this. Unfortunatley, I had to speak to the family of the recently deceased who had just purchased these 4 plots. He said he was astounded when the City advised him he could buy them, because in 1974, he and his family were told they were 'unavailable", due to the information regarding the unmarked graves, therein. He told me that the city had told him...."hopefully they would not unearth any graves when they dug there". I was digging through the dirt there just this morning, because one of his family members was going to be buried there, today, and the grave had already been dug in Section B. I uncovered some cement sections, but did not discover anything else that might have been remains, although the pile of fresh dug earth was large. I would ask for your assistance in letting the City of Tuttle know that this Section (B) should not be 'sold' and chances taken that a grave may be 'missed' while digging a new one. The City has ample space to sell new "unused" burial plots. I am attempting to locate some elderly Tuttle residents that may be familiar with the graves in Section B. My Baby Uncle is buried therein, also, with an 'unmarked grave" and we are attemtping to locate ALL of these unmarked graves. The Section B that appears 'empty' is but a small section of Section B. I do not think that chances should be taken to 'just dig there...and see....". As there is ample space for new graves in other Sections of the cemetery. Please do what you can do to rectify this issue. As I stated the one city councilman that I spoke to was not aware that the city was allowing the previously 'blocked' Section B to be sold, so there was perhaps "an error" just with the person who looked at the map and saw it blank and sold them w/o conferring with anyone else. The maps that they have do not indicate "old" and/or "unmarked graves in the Old Section of this cemetery. Section B, of course, is the 2nd oldest section of this cemetery. Today is Sat. 4/Sept/2004, and I could not do much to have this action explained by the City of Tuttle. I saw the new grave dug there and spoke to the family. The family was offered the plots and bought them as 'new/unused'. If you have ANY information regarding this issue, please email or call me. We need documentation or witness. Im pretty sure that my greatgrandmother did many of those things, she live a 105 years and out lived 4 husbands ! She was 95 years old. She had been in failing health for several years. Maggie was the first of nine children born to Jonas and Amanda (Schmidt) Koehn in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on July 31, 1909. On July 8, 1933 Maggie married Clyde J. Unruh and they built a home outside of Verden, Oklahoma. Three children completed this family, Don, Phyllis and Barbara. In February of 1952 the family moved to Malin, Oregon. Clyde went home to be with the Lord in March of 1987 and shortly afterwards Maggie moved to Ashland. Because of failing health, Barbara moved in with her and cared for her mother until her death. Maggie is survived by her son Don and his wife Ruth of Malin, Oregon; daughters Phyllis and husband Don Krueger of Yelm, Washington, and Barbara of Ashland, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Karen Rassmussen of Portland, OR, David Unruh of Medford, OR, Steve Unruh of Malin, OR, Paul Unruh of Abilene, TX, Julia Unruh of Malin, OR, Brent Krueger of Washington, D.C., Nathan Krueger of Palm Beach, FL, and Shauna Baalman of Everett, WA; six great-grandchildren, Daniel and Eric Rassmussen, Jacquelyn and Shelby Unruh, Briauna and Grace Baalman; sisters Della Jantz of Foley, AL, and Maureen Base of Anadarko, OK; brothers Claude and Vernon Koehn of Galva, KA. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, a granddaughter Kalani, her parents Jonas and Amanda Koehn, brothers Leo and Melvin Koehn and sisters Lenora Koehn and Lydia Andress. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Verden, Oklahoma with burial in the Plainview Mennonite Cemetery of Verden. Also his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Stephens, were there in 1900. Homer died in 1906 in Indianola, Pittsburgh, Ok. SO far no one in the family knows what caused his death or where his grave is located. Does anyone know of a cemetery in the area where he might be buried?
