Children were: Ethel, Charles Monroe, Joseph Lee, Cora, Fannie M., Minnie E., Margaret "Marga" L., Frank B. and George W. Any information would be appreciated. Bob Tippett

He may have been a deputy. A lists of sheriffs since statehood is here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgrady/okgradysheriff.html Woodford is in Carter county, some distance for a daily commute to work by horse or wagon, so I would think he lived near there while working at the mill. Newport is also in Carter county, about 6 miles south of Woodford. I couldn't find any Burks listed in the Carter County cemetery index online. ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ok/carter/cemeteries/carter1b.txt The only Burks I found in Grady county are in the Verden Cemetery. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ok/grady/cemeteries/verden1.txt Gene

Surnames: SWINNEY, Shivers, Hay Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kYB.2ACE/1757 Message Board Post: From the Medford (OR) Mail Tribune 12-15-2004 at www.mailtribune.com Geraldine Catherine Swinney was born in Alex, OK. on June 5, 1918. She died in her sleep Monday night, Dec. 6, 2004. Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Carol Shivers and Lynn Hay; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was adored by many children, as she was a foster grandparent for Jackson Elementary. She also worked many years as a caregiver in foster homes. Geraldine gave of herself tirelessly, yet had very little material possessions. She didn't seem to want them as long as she had her loved ones. The proverbial "shirt off her back" best describes the way she gave. Her best friend, Diane, remembers her as a spunky little woman with a heart of gold, always worrying about everyone else's needs. Geraldine also worked as a group home mother for mentally retarded children in S. Carolina, many years ago. She obtained her degree at a late date in her life, and never quit learning, as her many certificates in the health field attest to. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family. A void is left behind that will never be filled in their hearts. Her daughter, Carol Shivers, wishes to say the following. "While it is beyond us to understand death, we should all be grateful for the precious gift of her life and rejoice forever that she was." There will be a memorial service to be announced at a later date.

Who are your grandparents?and dates also, if you will please. I see that you are fairly new to the message boards, so you may not know that you can click on the message you were posting to, and go back to my first inquiry. Then you can follow the information in the thread. You can also click on each persons name and see where they have posted information on the Fryrear family. If you are familiar with: http://genforum.genealogy.com/ you can also find where I have probably posted messages and others have posted about the Fryrear family. It is an interesting surname, I found a lot of history. Hansford County, Texas also has some information. I did check a lot of counties and websites for information, but my granddaughter divorced the Fryrear man and I stopped researching the Fryrear name. I wish you luck and if you are serious about researching the Fryrear family, I will start picking up information where I find it and then post it to you. I no longer have the records I had collected, none of the Fryrear family were very interested in having the genealogy. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Luck in searching Joy

May 1798 in Hamburg (Germany), died 29. Mar. 1867 in Grossenaspe (Holstein, Germany). Married to Margarethe Christine Cirsovius. Julius Christian had 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Marie (Emma Caroline Margarethe) Ernst, Helene (Dorothea Emilie Maria) Nutzhorn and Mathilde (Dorothea Amalie Louise) Otto. Also named in Marie Ernsts testament must be the 2 sons of her deceased brother Adolf (Wilhelm Cirsovius) named Adolf and Johannes Hermann. The group located in Stade consists of Maries brother Friedrich (Heinrich Ludwig Diedrich) and his daughters Anna Margerethe, Ella Blanka and Frieda; there are more children. Gravenhorst is not a common name in Germany. I'm not shure which Charles F Gravenhorst joined the spanish american war. I have 2 favourites: One born in Effingham, Illinois (son of Albert A. and Barbara Blattner), the other is born in Meldorf (Holstein, Germany) and son of Friedrich (Heinrich Ludwig Diedrich) mentioned above. I have complete data of all their Gravenhorst-forebears back to 1480 and am able to show you the relations. For more information please contact me by emailing directly to joachim.gravenhorst@gmx.net.
