1. [OKGEN ] Another Cookbook -- Luther, O.T.
2. I have found another old cookbook. This one is undated, but 1. It includes ads for business in "Luther, O.T." so must have been published before 1907. 2. It contains recipes from contributors who did not move to the area until after the 1900 census. It thus places many more families in the area during territorial times and is a MAJOR find in terms of our area study. Unfortunately, it is so fragile that I'm not optimistic about copying or scanning it to post online. I do hope to put an index online, but even that will take time. In the meantime, if you are looking for people in the Luther area [northeastern Oklahoma Co., southeastern Logan Co., or western Lincoln Co.] you can go to Ceil's Corner and use its search engine to access all types of information I've posted. If you don't find the family where you expected to, just write to me. It could be a simple matter of a spelling variant. Even those of you with no ties to the Luther area may enjoy a brief glimpse into the past. from the Preserves, Pickles, Etc., section -- "To Preserve a Husband: Be careful in your selection; do not choose too young, and take only such varieties as have been reared in a good moral atmosphere. When once decided upon and settled, let that part remain forever settled, and give your entire thought to preparation for domestic use. Some insist on keeping them in a pickle, while others are constantly getting them in hot water. Even poor varieties may be made sweet, tender and good by garnishing with patience, well sweetened with smiles and flavored with kisses to taste; then wrap well in a mantle of charity, keep warm with a steady fire of romantic devotion, and serve with peaches and cream -- when thus prepared, they will keep for years." 1. [OKGEN ] Old Cookbook Collection at NTSU? in Denton, TX
2. Alison Stevens
3. Good morning, all, I read some time ago that the old cookbook collection at the old Texas State Women's College in Denton is really, really good, better than is generally known in the "foodie" world. That might mean that old area cookbooks could be found there. Best wishes, Alison Stevens _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
