OK State Historical Society has a newspaper room that are on microfilm. You will actually park and enter the back side of the building and as you walk in you walk in on ground level on the back side. BUT this is considered the basement. This is where the "Archives" room is located..where you will find Native American and pre or early statehood items. The "first" floor has the reading room...where books on all states and mircofilm and readers are located. Also on this floor is the newspaper room. If you plan to use the microfilm reader in the "Reading Room" it is adviseable that you check things out and see if you need to put your name on the list to have a reader...depending on how busy they are that day. Then if you want to go to the Newspaper Room or Archives Room let them know where you will be and they will call that area to have you paged. And sometimes this applies to the Newspaper Room film readers. You are allowed only 2 hrs on the readers and have the option of a second chance if the names roll back around to yours. The Historical Society is open late on Mon...I think til 8...otherwise they close at 5 pm To the north end of the basement towards the auditorium is snack machines. Out side the building take the side walk leading to the North and there is concrete park benches. Good luck in your search! Kathy Stokes Hudson
