According to the book of Sallisaw Historical Highlights. A Pictorial History of Sallisaw, Ok. !888--1993 The land from which Sallisaw was platted was the Indian allotments of the descendants of John Foster Wheller and his wife, Nancy Paschal Watie, who was Cherokee. Among these descendants were a son, Captain Will Watie Wheeler, and a daughter, Harriet Wheller, who married Argyle Quesenbury. Are these people in your family? If so then it is quite possible they at one time did farm that land, other wise I doubt it was exactly on the main street of Sallisaw. I have some early pictures of Sallisaw, but I have loaned them out and will have to wait to get them back for now. I hope this helps you a little. Good luck with your research.
