"We, whose names are hereto signed, do acknowledge to have voluntarily enrolled ourselves as emigrants for the Arkansas Country and to have received in consequence thereof the several articles annexed to our names of the United States Agent for the Cherokee Nation in consideration of which, we do this day relinquish all our right, title and claim to all lands within the limits of the Cherokee Nation, East of the Mississippi, for lands given to us on the Arkansas and White Rive, according to the limits and boundaries stipulated in the late treaty with the Cherokees, concluded on the 8th day of July 1817 between the Commissioners of the United States and the Chiefs, Head Men, and Warriors of the Cherokee nation. (Editor's Note: Those names preceded by an asterisk indicate that those individuals are not on the list of families who actually did emigrate to the West.)" (*This is taken out of the Emigration Rolls 1817-1835) Henderson Roll--1835--A census of over 16,000 Cherokee residing in Alabama, Ga., Tn, & N. C. to be removed to Okla. under the terms of New Echota in 1835 If you haven't already. You may want to try to call the Cherokee Nation (in Tahlequah, Okla.) & see if they could give you an idea of where to look for the Land Allotment papers...maybe you could look up the deed. I have an Uncle (brother of my great grandma) who had supposedly prove his connections to the Cherokee Tribe even though he had previously been rejected due to his mom. But I can't find these papers. I'll keep my eyes open for this (your)info.
