    3. Thanks Helen. I would appreciate *any* clues! <G> Several descendents of my gg grandmother have told us, ( a cousin and myself) that she received her allotment of land somewhere near Eufaula. I know Eufaula was Creek Country, but it is located very near the SW corner of Cherokee Country. Her name was Mary Ann Williams Prince. She was a full Cherokee, (pretty close to full anyway). She and her family had applied for Cherokee citizenship in 1896, but were rejected because they lived in AR, and had never lived in Cherokee Nation. We have her application, so that is a fact. But these are older relatives and several of them swear she got an allotment. Neither of us have found anything else. We can't figure out, if she got an allotment, how? Since she was rejected, I have never come across a re-application, approved or otherwise. And she was Cherokee, so how come Creek? Although since it was close to the line, perhaps in the SW area? It has us puzzled, since she was rejected in 1896, yet these relatives, which were/are her children, grandchildren are so sure it is true. ANy help/clues would be greatly appreciated, as we try to sort fact from fiction. <g> Thanks, Ethel --- glswings <glswings@pacifier.com> wrote: > Ethel--I have some of the roll indexes. 3. Ethel, If she "received" or bought land, have you checked the Land deeds in that area? I have a Hannah, Jonathan & Tom Williams in the Emigration Rolls (They had gone to Ark. leaving their land on the East side of the Mississippi River) & I see 1 Prince (or Snip)also on this Roll. What else does her application say about her residence or her relatives residence? Basically where all if any does it list them for living. Also, what are the family names for her. It might help give us (Helen) some more clues of where to look & what to look for. Alli :) Researching: ABRAM--JOHNSON--PHARISS--LOVELL--ADAMS McKAY--McCALL--THOMPSON--WHITE. 3. Alli, her name is Mary Ann (Williams) Prince, born May 1838 in AL. Her father was John Prince, 1835 Henderson Roll, in NC. I don't have a date as to when they moved to AR, so don't know if they were in the Removal in 1838-39. According to family, she had a brother who lived in C.N. When he got older. Right now, I can't remember the brother's name, had twin sisters Judy & Jody, died young. She married in Hot Springs county in 1855, died in 1916 buried Pike City, Pike Co. AR, where she and husband Peter lived. After Peter died in 1880's, she married a Paschal Woodall, not sure what happened there, may have divorced, then in 1901 married E. O. Waid. They split and she divorced him, and went back to Prince to receive Peter's Confederate pension. She filed as Mary A. Prince and was rejected in 1896.The ones that talked about her getting land was her son ELijah and his children. These I know of, but others told my cousin the same story. My cousin asked me, did I think she may have re-applied and gotten the allotment, but I have never heard of that happening. The things I know about her, point to her never getting land in OK, but since the story is out there and a lot say that, we are trying to prove or disprove before he sends the book to the publisher.
