July 12, 1906 Broken Arrow Indian Territory ( Tulsa Co, OK) was 3 years old. In celebration and as a means to promote Broken Arrow, the Broken Arrow Ledger newspaper published a special 8 page edition. The 8 pages are made up of sketches and photos of local businessmen and photos of businesses and town residences. The sketches often give information as to where the man was born, where he lived previously and what business he had been associated with and/or owned. This is an absolute gold mine for the people who had family in Broken Arrow in the early 1900s. Even if a family member is not mentioned the information is wonderful for gaining an idea of what the area was like at the time. I have transcribed all of the paper except for page 8. I've not yet attempted to scan in any of the photos - most of which are very dark on my copies. But be that as it may - I invite you to drop by and see what you can find.
