DOWNEY-MRS.MATTIIE STARNES DOWNEY died yesterday afternoon at the home of MRS.J.H. KENNY at Sale Creek,following a lingering illness.Mrs.Downey was,before her marriage to DR.C.E.DOWNEY,MISS MATTIE STARNES of Birchwood Tenn.Mrs.Downey was a teacher in the schools of Hamilton county for many years.Surviving are three brothers,J.H.STARNES of Chattanooga; COLONEL,of Oklahoma City;STANTON,of Atlas,Okla. eight step-children,MRS.J.H.KENNY,MRS.FLORENCE COULTER,C.A., P.E., J.M., and O.M.Downey,of Sale Creek;MRS.C.P.BROOKS oof Ringgold,Ga.; and L.M.Downey ofEl Paso Texas.
