    2. Hello everyone. Yes, the Ancestor Fair in Guthrie, OK, is Saturday, March 24, 2001, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Logan County Fairgrounds Educational Building, 1201 South Division Street, Guthrie, OK. It is FREE, and open to the public. The building is designated Smoke-free, but there is plenty of space outdoors for smoking. We have received excellent newspaper coverage, and we believe this 7th year will be the best ever! As of this morning, we have a wide variety of vendors, genealogy societies and organizations who will have displays. Among them are: The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia; D.A.R. Samuel King Chaper; LDS Family Research Library, Oklahoma City; Poteau Valley Gene. Soc., Oklahoma Historical Soc.; Rootstamps/Schooner Genealogy Co. of Abilene, KS; Reba Collins noted Will Rogers author; Garfield Co. Gene. Soc.; Creative Memories; Pat Heyvaert, old books; Kopy Kat of Edmond who will offer special deals on your copying needs & will have on hand some onyx, crystal & marble products to show; Konawa Gene. Soc., Edmond Gene. Soc., Friends of the Museum (Oklahoma Territorial Museum); Genealogy Library of the Greater SW Historical Museum, Ardmore; Watkins Products (reminders of mother's cooking); Logan Co. Gene. Soc. with about 8 tables w/computer set ups, family research, outlaw/newspaper transcriptions by Del Shaw, books for sale, etc. Featured demonstration is by Anna Hester who will have her spinning wheel and loom set up for showing visitors how grandma made her yarn and rugs, etc. She will also demo the lost art of tatting. Anna will be in period costume. The United Pentecostal Church will prepare lunch so you don't even have to leave the building all day - unless you just want to. They always prepare a wonderful lunch - soup, beans & cornbread, sandwiches, etc. I am not sure of the exact menu, but it is always very tasty home cooking. They are having a bake sale, too. I've been told there will be famous fried pies on hand. There will be door prizes throughout the day, and one must be present to win. We have received a lot of material for our freebie table. Of course, of special interest will be the OKGen/RootsWeb area (Marti, Sharon, Billie, Jack & others (?) who will be focusing on helping people with their computer questions, and demonstrating all the help that is available on-line. Many of the phone calls I have received are along the lines of: "I am new to genealogy, now have a computer, want to know how to get going. What software is available for genealogy?" If you have a particular genealogy software that you'd like to demonstrate, bring your laptop and we can set up a table for you. The tables are 6-foot, and are $15. We still have space for a few more, so if you want one, please let me know immediately. Time is running out! See you soon! For people on the list who cannot travel to Guthrie, so sorry! Maybe next time... Thanks for your support. 3. This sounds like a good fair. My Okla. ancestors are from Pottawatomie County and LeFlore County. As I live in Kansas City, will have to leave on Friday. Do you think I would benefit from this trip? My parents both born in Indian Territory.
