Hello to my fellow Oklahoma Researchers, Some of the older ones probably remember in 1939 when our government expanded Lake Texhoma and to move some towns & one was Woodville. Under the water is Old Woodville Oklahoma which is between Kingston & Calera. Does anyone know the mileage from that area to Durant? Sounds like a silly question but I have a reason for it, please. If someone could help me ? I sure would appreciate it very much. Thank you. Vicki ,Houston TX

If Old Woodville was on the same railroad line and its location was in the spot that is in the center of the part of the lake the rail crosses. It would be 13 miles from Old Woodville to Durant using roads that are in use today. It would seem logical that the town would be on the railroad line. They would have just moved it back west far enough to get it out of the lake's way. New Woodville is about 3 miles from the lake shore. I forgot I had "Oklahoma Place Names". It says Woodville is 5 miles southeast of Kingston. That means it not below water. I wasn't using my map with the notes. I found that there is a Old Woodville Cemetery and a Woodville Cemetery near the lake shore on the west side near the town of McBride. There are lots of roads in the area, but they might be new. Gene
