    2. Stewart, James posted April 3, 2003 James C. Stewart, 84, a resident of Chattanooga since 1965, died Wednesday morning, April 2, 2003, in a local health care facility. He was a native of Durant, Okla. He became an Eagle Scout in 1935, graduated from high school in 1936, and received a B.S. in business administration from Southeastern State College in 1940. In 1941 he completed Flight School in Fort Worth, Texas before serving as a flight instructor for the U.S. Army Air Corps and the No. 3 British Flying School (RAF) in Miami, Okla., from 1941 until 1945. In 1945 he also received a certificate of proficiency Class "A" Superior from the British Royal Air Force. In 1972, he retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. In 1973 he received an M.S. in agriculture from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Stewart was an avid golfer and lived an independent, self-reliant and industrious life. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy England Stewart of Chattanooga; three sons, Jim Stewart of Mendon, Mass., David Stewart of Decatur, Ala., and John Stewart of Chattanooga; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There will be no services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4355 Highway 58, Suite 101, Chattanooga, TN 37416, or the Tyner United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
