Does the Genweb or whichever have searchable records of the 1900 Census for the Indian Territory? I really really dislike Ancestry.....they make you jump thru hoops for this record & then want you to sign up so you can have access........BULL! I agree with you totally about Ancestry.com Even when you pay for part of their service, you still come across things you can't access. Don't they know they're making people angry?? I know a bit about marketing, and I think they'd have a lot more lucrative business if they quit making people mad. And I think it's misleading to let you click all through the various levels (or "hoops") and then say "Sorry, you haven't bought this information yet." I'd be less upset if they'd tell me up front "This is information you have to pay for." Besides.... in my humble opinion their "extra" services still don't help me find much. And trying to read images of censuses on line is difficult at best. I'd rather have a transcription (typed) version any day, like I bought on the 1880 census from LDS. Alli, I have ancestory.com and genealogy.com and couldn't live without either one. I watch my grandson and not able to go to OHS anymore to search census records. Let me know who you want to find and I will look for you. I dislike them so much that I bounce all their e-mail, and mark all their catalogs "Return to sender" they are a bunch of money hungry******** who have taken what others have worked hard for and sell it. furthermore they should be investigated for being a Monopoly since they have gobbled up Family tree maker, and rootsweb along with just about anything else that pertains to genealogy. I don't use much of the family submitted info, you never know how good the info is so that is useless to me. What I use is all their online census. Since I babysit my 2 yr old grandson I can't get to OHS and I am just thankful someone put the census online so I can still do some research at home. I subscribe to ancestory.com and genealogy.com and I wouldn't give either one up. Thanks for the offer Sharon........ I'm sure that both are good tools to have, the biggest complaint I have (other than their price) :) is that they lead you on making you think that you can access something (in this case census records) & then right before you open it........there's that register/subscription page & if you don't join you don't see it. Course with my family it doesn't seem to matter anyway........our LDS Family History Center has a membership & I still couldn't find my family in the 1910 census. Grr. If you have a minute Sharon & if you can find Abram/s Look in the earliest Census that's out/available... The Head of the family would be Allie Carl (Carol) &/or Mittie Mae (Johnson) They were both born in the Indian Territory, Okla. I looked in the Abram Soundex for 1920 (I believe) couldn't find them They've been in Okla. since the mid-late 1800's So, I know they're there. They were in Chelsea & Tulsa area. I'll probably just go into the Gen. library next week, its a 1/2 hr. drive for me now & I'm lazy & don't want to take the boys (5 & 2) w/me unless I just have to :) Thanks for any help Alli :) > Alli, I have ancestory.com and genealogy.com and > couldn't live without either one.
