Evelyn, I, saw your answer to Gracie, that your in North Central Oklahoma, Ponca City. I'm hopeing you, maybe willing to help me! "Infact your the first person I've seen posting anything from Ponca City, O.K.". I, must explain why & hope I'm not going to bore you, with this! My, mom was in the "orphanage there in Ponca City, with her 2 other siblings. After her mom&dad, Isaac M.& Emma Rice both died of polminary active tuberculosis. She was only about 6months when her father died of T.B. & as fare as I, can figure about 5-6 when her mother died of same from catching from Isaac, my grandfather. My mothers maiden nmae at birth was Lilly,or Lily M. Rice,born in 1923, Tucumcari, N. M., after which her siblings & she was put into the orphanage. Her sisters name was Edith Rice,born November 7, 1918 in Barnard, Oklahoma, to Isaac&Emma (Stedham)Rice.There brother was Claude Ray Rice at birth. He, supossidely was adopted by a Bray family. But I've got no years of birth or family names. Is it posssible to ask you, to get a picture of the orphanage and anything you, can find? I'm willing to pay for postage and pictures.
