Is there anyone out there that can tell me how to get my mom's and her siblings records? They were in The American Legion Home, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. I've contacted them and they say that the records can't be found! Is there another place these records could possibly be? Thanx, for "any suggestcians". I was telling the chat room the other night about a new page editor. As most of you long timers know I absolutely hate graphical editors like Front Page, AOL Press and many others. Not that the pages don't look alright, it's just that they suffer from "code bloat". Code bloat makes pages unnecessarily large and slow loading. I've always been an HTML purist. I prefer text based editors. NOW, it's possible to have your cake and eat it to. For those that like graphical editors, you can do that. For the few, like me, that like text based editors, you can do that. AND all with one program. [ Boy do I sound like a used car salesman or what. *<[:oD ] It's not a perfect compromise but it is a good one. Code bloat is almost eliminated in graphical mode and you have the option to look at the text and change it where you want. I'm still learning everything that it will do but if your interested in a new way to do your pages I would highly recommend it. OH YES, the very, very, very best thing about it is it's price. FREE!!!! http://www.nvu.com/download.html Windows people have to scroll down past the two Linux and one MAC versions to the Windows version. But that's kind of neat that they have versions for all the major operating systems. Disclaimer: I have no interest in, or receive no compensation from the makers of, NVU. I just happen to think pretty highly of their product. (o;]>*HUGGLES*<[:o) Billie Walsh The three best words in the English Language: "I LOVE YOU" Pass them on!
I found this list I am hoping it can help me GENEALOGY-DNA-L _http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/DNA/GENEALOGY-DNA.html_ (http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/DNA/GENEALOGY-DNA.html) Topic: Anyone with DNA (i.e., anyone!) who would like to discuss methods and share results of DNA testing as applied to genealogical research.
I don't have any idea what it means. Is there anyone who knows about this ? My 1st cousin took a mtDNA and the results show the following Her mtDNA (maternal line) and the map shows that she has five connections with Asia (American Indian), 2 Scot, 1 Brit Does this mean that I am 5/8 indian since 5+2+1=8, therefore 5/8 or is that too simplistic? Additionally how does the male contribution figure into the equation. Perhaps, if there is no male contribution of indian then it woud be half of 5/8 or 5/16 ? Or is it more complicated than that? Thanks Angela
