    1. Re: OKGEN-D Digest V05 #95 MAYBE OFF TOPIC BUT!
    2. Hi Jack, I didn't know anything but went to the county courthouse in the town (my home town ) where my Great Grandfather died in 1932 and they showed me how to use the indices and told me to look for a Final Decree (1934) . (They will do it for you and it only cost a few dollars more for the look up and copying etc). I had many records of all types to pull, marriage, deeds, warrenties, land patent info etc.... so they were nice enough to teach me how to search for anything I wanted and things that I didn't know existed uses the indices and old tome at that courthouse nothing was microfilmed etc. It was a gold mine! And I only paid for copying cost $1.00 a sheet but was priceless. So, look for a final decree it was a gold mine of genalogical informtion , mortgate papers w/ former wives, heirs, present wives, grandchildren that we didn't know existed who inherited and possibly should not have be named as heirsl ( we thought my mom was the only existing grandchild at that time & she was not named as an heir) ! And son in law's administrating and who was assigned and vested with what in the end! Judith

    3. Hello, I am new to the list and am looking for any information I can find on my Ggreat Uncle Charles Theobald and wife Nettie. They lived around Bartlesville in Washington county. I have been told that he used to be a driver for Frank Phillips of Phillips Petroleum Co. I heard that his name is still on the intercom at the Phillips house in Bartlesville. All I know is that he died in 1933 in Bartlesville and that both are buried there in Washington county. Does anyone know where I could write for their death certificates? Or maybe to find an obituary? Thank you, Darin

    3. If this involves real estate, possibly there is an Affidavit of Heirship on file when the property was sold/transferred. If this was in Oklahoma, possibly the record will be listed on the Oklahoma District Court site at http://www.odcr.com/search.php I have found that using "All Parties" instead of "Plaintiffs and Defendants" will usually list more names. 3. Gacie's right. If there was any "real property" then there had to be a probate regardless of the lack of a will. There should be a court record, baring unforeseen circumstances. (o;]>*HUGGLES*<[:o) Billie Walsh The three best words in the English Language: "I LOVE YOU" Pass them on!

    2. Fred, this is most helpful information. At the estimated time of Susan Marley's death, it was still Oklahoma Territory, and that area the Chickasaw Nation, so I need to be guided - as you have done - since I have just moved into the state to do some of this research. Thank you sincerely. Nell Truitt - Ardmore Nell, You are doing a wonderful thing trying to place a stone on a grave. There are two problems here. First Oklahoma does not have a death index and second the state didn't require the reporting until a year after statehood and it wasn't enacted into a law until 1917. Some counties didn't fully comply until the late 1920s. I would contact the Johnston County Genealogical Society to see if they have any records. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/index.htm Then go to the county links. I'll check at the Oklahoma Historical Library on next Wednesday when I'm there to see if there is a cemetery book for Johnston County that would give a location to start with. Fred J.
