    2. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it yet, but you can order a copy of an original Social Security Act application for your g'father if you have his SS#. On the one we obtained (it took a year to recieve it after applying and they did not refund the amount over the correct price of the App, so be sure to send in the right amount the first time), it had both his parents names, the name and address of his employer and his residential address (where he was living). So it was well worth the wait since we did not know the name of his father, or have any way to know that he really was in IT at the time. Good luck with your search. 2. I also have a 'lost' relative from IT. I found him with his parents on his original application for the Social Security Act. I have been informed that there were no records kept of births at that time in IT. No newspaper mentions unless you were from a prominent family, he (our relative) was born in 1893. So the chances of finding a birth record for that early are slim to none. However you might try sending for her original application for the social security act, it contains other interesting information as well as the parents names. It also contains where the person was living at the time and where they were working (if they did) and the employer's address. I'm not sure all the applications contain this information, but ours did. As far as applying for a birth certificate, she probably didn't, she would not have needed it for anything other than for a keepsake. They were not required until in the 1900s. However you could try FT Gibson in Wagoner County. I found a news article about our ancestor's mother's death (she was murdered), but it didn't help much, just gave some interesting information about the circumstances of her death, but it did not mention her son at all who would have been about 5 years old at the time of his mother's death. Like you, I found him in a later census living with his grandparents. I also found mention of the murder in the Muskogee Phoenix, so you could try that area as well. That area was well populated (if rough) and there might be a land record for your g-ma's parents. Well, good luck, I hope this will help you some. There was another fort in the territory FT Smith, it was located in Arkansas. Good luck, information in that area in the time you are searching will be very difficult to find, but with a little divine assistance, it can be done. 2. Dittmar, Frederick M.
    3. Sue, Some other thoughts on birth information in McClain Co. Try the following link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okmcclai/okmcclain.html In this find the 1890 census and see if it list the family then go to the 1900 census and find the family again to see if there is a child at age 4 having been born in Oklahoma. That may be the only proof if there was no Delayed Birth Certificate. As for Hughes county try: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okhughes/hughes.htm There is very little on the web and at the Oklahoma Historical Library for Hughes County. You'll have to contact the County Historical/Genealogy Society. Also if your mother was born in Arkansas she would need to request that state for a birth certificate. I don't think Oklahoma would issue one. But I may be wrong. You'd have to ask at the Health Department. Fred, Frederick M. 3. I am trying to locate family members of William BEARD, who was born in about 1916 or 1917 in Oklahoma. He was the son of Stonewall Jackson "Bud" Beard and Mary (maiden name unknown) Sargent (1st marriage) Beard. They were probably married in 1915 or 16. Mary Sargent Beard had two children: Lewis and Gladys, from her first marriage. Lewis' wife was Lois. Gladys married Carl Andrews in about 1929. According to his mother's obituary in 1940, William was stationed at Ft. Sill. Then when his father died in 1952, he was stationed at an airbase in Oklahoma near Midwest City? (I think it is called). Thanks for any help locating family members. Stonewall Jackson "Bud" Beard was a 1st cousin of my grandfather, who lived in Granger, Williamson Co., Texas.
