Salli-saw Henreyetta's Bowlegs! I don't know about Bushylegs. Vickie Neill Taylor flip@okplus.com
I can't remember the original ditty about Oklahoma place names so just made up my own. SALLISAW HENRYETTA sitting on the DAVENPORT and noticed she had a BUSHYHEAD so she handed her a BLUE JACKET and said, "Get CHECOTAH on and EUFAHLA me to the BARBER shop". All the capital words are actual towns in Oklahoma !! Jack Childers in OKC http://www.gbnf.com/genealogy/childers/html/surnames.htm
"Thank You" to everyone that sent me information on the meaning of Pvt.; Dep Brig Unit; Ft. Garland. I tried to thank everyone individually, but don't want to chance missing a person. Again "Thank You" for your time and help. Paula/Oregon

I need someone with military knowledge to tell me what the below would mean: Pvt.; Dep Brig Unit; Ft. Garland I know Pvt. is Private and Ft. Garland is a town in Colorado, what's the Dep Brig Unit? A kind lady sent this to me out of a WW 1 Inductees book she owns for Colorado. This is my uncle, yeah, I've found someone! Thanks for the help. Paula/Oregon
Thanks to all my friends on the various list to which I am a subscriber, I was able to order the death certificate for my daughter online. Hopefully II can find out why she was called home at such an early age. I have tried to answer each response on an individual basis, but there was so many I might have inadvertently left someone out, so I am sending this thank you to each list. The response was so great that it would be very easy to overlook someone. Please forgive me if I did. Warmest regards J.J. "One's ability is limited only by their Knowledge"
My daughter came home with a cute site for looking up your Coat of Arms on. Try it ... I think a lot of you will like it. :o) www.traceit.com Shelia C. BACHELDER
I have sent the following message to "Mainegen@rootsweb.com", at least 3 different times but I get no reply from any of the three different people to whom I sent messages, including the State Coordinator, county Coordinator and one volunteer. Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to obtain the following information? My Daughter Mrs. Manessa Carter Died suddenly and unexplained in Sedgwick, ME on Sat Feb 24, 2001. I would appreciate any information you could furnish me as to the addresses of the medical examiners office or where I might aquire a death certificate for her. Also the cost of the certificate. I live in Oklahoma and am not able to get there, so any help I get will have to come via the Internet. I don't know if there was an obit published or not but would love to have one. I know this is quite a lot to ask but it would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Jack L. Johnson jjoh902584@aol.com Regards J. J. "One's ability is limited only by their Knowledge"

They didn't use a specific one. Here's what his membership certificate says... It was sponsored by R.W. Benjamin Funeral Home Nowata/Chelsea, Okla. Community Burial Association- Membership Certificate in the Community Burial Association Not over $100 A non-profit Burial Association operating under the laws of the State of Oklahoma Certifies that........(J.J. Johnson)...... Age....(76) of .....(Chelsea)....., Oklahoma and the dependent members of his family consisting of the following persons: Name......(Martha Jane Johnson)...Age:..(61) Name......(Bertha Viola Johnson)...Age..(20) Name......(Helen P. Johnson)......Age...(17) are members of the Community Burial Association and as such are entitled to benefits provided and set out in the Articles of Agreement printed below: There are 5 articles listed with this certificate, if interested I can post it. For my great Grandpa he received benefit's of $50 at the time of his death, which was 1943 & the certificate was applied for in '42. His funeral cost $131.50 part of it was paid from the Burial Association & the Military & one of his kids. The funeral home he apparently used was the R.W. Benjamin which I believe has changed names, I'd just contact one of the local funeral homes to see what they tell ya about it. Solan K. Jackson b. May 16, 1860 Macoupin County, IL and lived in Muskogee, Ok and was still there in 1932 when his sister died. He married an Indian woman Annie. Haven't got her last name. Don't have his death date or marriage date. Want to see if anyone has access to the 1920 or 1930 census for Muskogee to see if they are listed on it, and what townships. Having trouble locating them. Been to Muskogee website, and still can't find them. His parents were both born in TN. Thanks for any help or advice. Georgia of IL.
