Vickie: My book was compiled by John Desmond HULSEY from Del Rio, Texas, written I think in 1967. It goes back to England on the Hulsey side. It has HULSEY, WILSON, TISHER,GROSS, and BATEMAN. My gggrandparents were George Washington TISHER and Susan Margaret HULSEY. If someone would like a copy I will send it to them for cost of copying and postage. It has about 106 pages. I would love to share info with the others you have connected with. Sharon Beamer
As luck would have it.....I've had a similar experience with one of our old cemeteries. Except the problem they had was not only were the books old....they were/are incomplete. The Funeral director & current owner of the cemetery was willing to allow me to look at the records (I haven't done so yet). What suggestions or ideas have been talked about between you & the funeral home? Most of them are usually willing to work with you if it will also benefit them (I am going to "try" to publish a book on our cemetery). For me, I was/am willing to do a lot of leg & hand work to get as much accurate info. for them/me as I could? Maybe they'd be willing to let you look at the records or make copies of the records to put them back in book form, scan them to put them on the computer & on a CD? That way they could put the original records away & have a "copy" available for the public to look through w/o fear of further damage being done? Hope this is "new" help idea :) Alli ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vickie Neill Taylor" <flip@okplus.com> To: <OKGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2001 4:32 AM Subject: [OKGEN ] Funeral Records Lost To Time! > Hi List, > I had a very sad trip to Holdenville yesterday. Hi List, I had a very sad trip to Holdenville yesterday. I went over to the funeral home to do a little research. It appears that all of the records dating back before 1927, have pretty much been lost to time. The books are still there, but they are in such poor shape that they wouldn't allow me to use them. I am trying to work out something with them to some how record the information and at least save it to disks or something to keep the information available for use. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Rebinding the books would be so expensive that it is kind of out of the question, there is a shelf full of them. How can I help them to preserve the information in the books? I'm certainly open to suggestion here. With this in mind, your might want to consider speaking with your neighboring funeral homes to see if the same fate might be about to happen. Maybe this problem can be avoided to other records. Vickie: I was just looking at a post you made earlier in the month about the Hulsey's. Some of the names match and are familiar in two sides of my family. I have looked up in my Hulsey book and I found quite a few brothers from Hall Co., GA. So I am betting it is the same family, but did not find your John Sharp. I do however have a book on Hulsey's though if it can help. Sharon Beamer

Vickie, just don't let Jack Childers get your goat, but he is right about looking in the tribal government at Muskogee for the information of your woman. Just give them the name or what part of it you have along with her roll number and they can give you the rest of the information on her. I don't know about all the tribes on the Dawes Rolls, but try calling Tim (or some of the girls) at the County Clerks Office and just ask which is covered. They'll know. Good morning! Well the way I remove moth ball smell is by air the garment outside for at least 4 or 5 hours. I usually hang them so that they get good circulation. But you also may try some of the dry cleaning sheets that are in the grocery stores that are to be used in your dryer. I have a few friends who really like to clean their sweaters, jackets etc with the dryer sheets. Dot in Texas > > 1. Is there a list of known Comanche Indians anywhere? Thanks everyone for the replies, I'll check every angle out. Who knows I might find a cousin. I hope the fresh air works for the clothes. Thanks next time we know washing three times won't do the trick. My cousin said she will never use them again, they smell to bad. Tina Knapp
Ok Gang, As you all know, I can't remember what I had for supper last night...let alone what I did 2 years ago. Would some one tell me what url I went to, to find a civil war pension record. I know it was something in Texas but that is a pretty big state to ask for a library there that you don't know the name of. Vickie Neill Taylor flip@okplus.com
