    3. All I can say Bill, is if there is a marker on the east edge of Meridian than there are more than one marker. When my son was in school he went to Coyle, when I would drive him I would go down Indian Meridian Rd pass the feed lot to Coyle. Right before I got into Coyle sitting in the middle of the intersection is a big Indian Meridian marker/monument type of thing. 1. [OKGEN ] HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR SOMEONE ??
    2. Dear List.........I have just received from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Archives Division a very full packet re: Confederate Pension Application and extensive documentation for one JOHN H. CANTWELL in ANNIE ELIZA CANTWELL'S pursuit of a Widow's Pension. I was hoping for my great grandfather,' WILLIAM BLUFORD CANTWELL'S Pension information His wife was named JANE ELIZABETH (ANNIE) CANTWELL.........hence......I suspect the mix-up. I wish this was mine as there is wonderful documentation is support of this application. There is over 20 pages of information, testimonials, letters and such. The widow in these papers was living in Vinita, Craig County, OK in 1920 when she applied for the pension. Mr. CANTWELL was a Confederate soldier who enlisted in 1861 in Hancock County, Tenn. in "D" Company, 19th Tenn. Inf. Regiment as a Private under General JOSEPH E. JOHNSON. and SIDNEY JOHNSON. What makes this fascinating (even though these aren't my relations) is that the above John H. CANTWELL had the same name of another John H. CANTWELL who served as a Corporal in the 29th Tenn. Inf. Reg. and was a deserter. Much of the correspondence has to do with all the work this family had to go to sort out the two men with similar names and then to find someone who knew Pvt. CANTWELL and be able to vouch for the fact that he was both in the Confederacy as stated and that he did not desert. Fortunately, they found a boyhood friend who enlisted at the same time ( ELIJAH WOLFE) and were able to clear the pension. The Red Cross, the Pension Board, a Congressman, a lawyer and others all worked on this widow's behalf. I sure wish this had been my CANTWELL ancestor........but maybe someone on the OK list will recognize this family, as I'd love to send these documents to them. Please let me know if this rings a bell.............Sharyn CANTWELL Baker

    3. The Stout Funeral Home is located in Wewoka and is still operating. The name has changed a couple times over the years. It was Stout and Sarber earlier. The STOUT, was Archie STOUT. Archie started working as a young man with a funeral home in Holdenville. If I remember right, It was with the Mr. HUDSON that had what was then the Hudson Funeral Home and is now Hudson-Phillips. I believe that Archie bought out Mr. SARBER in at a guess late 60's or early 70's. He ran the service until his death. At that time, Stout Funeral Home was bought out by the PHILLIPS family. This would be the same Phillips that own Hudson-Phillips of Holdenville. Archie is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. He was married to Florence, I think it is. They had 3 children. Florence is now married to a CHRIST and still lives in Wewoka. For what it's worth, They told me that their records run back into the 40's. Early records were lost to fire. Keep in mind that this is from memory so I could be a little off on the time frames. Can I help you with something from the Funeral Home? Vickie Neill Taylor flip@okplus.com
