Marti, I'd like to thank you for the information you posted about requesting copies of OK Confederate pension records from the Dept. of Libraries...it worked perfectly! I called them this morning to ask the amount I should send with my request, and was told that they would send an invoice with the copies. As a surprise bonus, I had the application # and reel # from the online Index ready, so the kind lady took my information over the phone. She said I would receive the copies in about a week. btw...the cost of copying the file is .25 per page, with a 2.50 minimum. I can't wait to see what new information I find on my gggrandfather, John Christopher Shipley and his wife, Theley Jane Fitch Shipley. The file was under her name, and, with a name like that, there wasn't any doubt it was the right person! Its not as bad, though, as my Cheatham who married a Meacham...8-) THANKS again, Marti! Hi Listers, There are several things that you as an individual can do about the 1234 virus being spread. 1. Get the list manager to take their name off the list for this list and to block them from further use. 2. You each can Block the sender of the virus in your email programs. 3. You can report the virus by forwarding it to abuse@hotmail.com. They are the ISP for the 1234 virus. 4. Any time you get a virus, find the abuse or spamming address for that ISP and send the virus to them . ESPECIALLY if they refuse to clean their machine and continue causing problems. FYI. cunnigham 1234 has been told numerous times by numerous people to cease and clean their machine and they have failed to do so. They are now being reported to MSN. It is my suggestion that you also report them to msn at the Hotmail address above.. If you know of any other lists infected by this 1234 virus please feel free to forward this message to the other lists. As of now the 1234 viruses are still being sent from this computer. Whether they know about it or not is a mute point. They have been told, now its time for us to stop them. You can contact me at kc7wdq@swbell.net Mary Stockton
I joined a program called "One Great Family", that was first advertised on the Donnie and Marie Show..It sounded like a great gen thing...just a small warning: I have not been able to access my part of the site about half of the time, even tho it cost me over 27 dollars for 3 months.. You cannot delete any mistakes you make They have more than one address I am not pleased with the site and have told them such... Please check it out good before you join..... Evelyn in ORegon
I have a friend who has webtv, but she doesn't have a wp program. Don't consider it much use, other than reading the net and sending mail. Glad to hear you don't have the virus. I'm not familiar with Web TV. How do you receive files or pictures from others? Paula
This email is coming from an individual that has the new virus. There was a discussion about this address last week. I received one today and deleted. If you opened the attachment your computer is infected. You need to do a virus update on your Anti Virus program and do a virus scan and removal. Marti, sent out an email the other day telling everyone to "not open" attachments without verifying they were sent to you from the sender. As well as some other information on this virus. People don't realize they have opened a virus and it is being sent out from their unread mail. Sorry, that this has happened to you. I know one person got their computer cleaned of the virus once they found out and I'm not sure about this address. I do know that none of it is intentional. Paula Paula
Dear Paula-With Webtv, you use your tv as a monitor. The terminal gets hooked up to your phone/tv to get the signal. You can receive pictures, but not any attachments. If I had a printer,I would be able to send/receive copies of pages, too.Once you set up an account, you can have up 6 users on each account. Each users can send/receive e-mail,as well as save favorite files (up to 20). In each file, you have 32 web pages. If you want to know anything else, drop me a line. http://community.webtv.net/KeplinSchwick/ Regards- Ms.Keplin K. Schwick
I also got a message from them, and sent them a "new" message (didn't hit reply) to let them know, just in case. I think just about everyone's getting or gotten hit by this virus....I did. And had to dump my whole computer cause the McAfee said I was clean when I wasn't & I couldn't download any updates from them either Alli ----- Original Message ----- From: <Ch2mglider@aol.com> To: <OKGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 4:39 AM Subject: [OKGEN ] cunningham134@email.msn.com > This email is coming from an individual that has the new virus. The ggrandaughter of J M Hall (one of the founders) of Tulsa has given me permission to put the book "The Beginning of Tulsa" on the web. This book was written in 1927, updated in 1933 and has been out of print and almost impossible to find since the mid 1930s. This is a fabulous resource for those who are searching for early Tulsa ancestors. Mr. Hall was one of the first men in Tulsa and his book contains lots of names and history. I have only the first 20 pages on-line by you are welcome to drop by and see what I have so far. You will need to check back off and on because this is will take me awhile. The search engine has not yet spidered my site so you'll have to read <g> http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~haas/learningcenter.html Last item on the page. Enjoy!
