    2. Bill Archer
    3. Hi, The only Archer's in Pottawatomie Co., OK that I know of are the ones in Konawa, OK. They cause me no end of grief because my father's mother's family, the Bates, lived there from 1895 to the 1980's. So whenever I'm researching the Bates and run across the Archer's there I have to stop and think about it :-) As far as I know, I'm not related to those Archers. Are these the ones you are looking for? If so, I can do some lookups for you. 3. Hi again Bill, The Archers and Collins have been giving me a headache for a long time also. Maybe you can tell me how to order a newspaper for Pottawatomie Co. My Dad was born in a small town called Asher near Salt Creek in 1904. I have no idea what newspapers were published near there. I sent for land records but the clerk said he dident find anything. My grandfather bought land with his brother-in-law before 1910 so there must be a record. If you could find something on the newspapers, it would be great. Thanks, Minnie Bill Archer wrote:

Judge for yourselves and "please" indicate whether theres another forum for this type of material along with how to send it to them. I have the whole article from the "Newspaper" and several other items that deal with Oklahoma that have come directly from my local paper during the 40's and 50's. This one below is just a sample. I have capatilized the surnames for easy viewing. Thank you! [ AP Leased Wire Service with No. 131. 1. [OKGEN ] Kay County (OK)Honor Roll (WWI) now online
    2. Harriette Jensen
    3. Hi, All. We've been doing lookups on the Kay County page for over a year now from a copy of the "Kay County Honor Roll and Service Record" of WWI veterans that was generously given to me by Allene Niehaus. There were hundreds of entries, with pictures, personal and service information on most veterans. There are also some pictures of nurses, people who supported the war effort in some way, and pictures of mothers who lost their sons in the war. The veterans are mostly Kay County residents, but many were born elsewhere or joined from other Oklahoma counties and states (a lot from Kansas) to serve in the Kay County units. A few months ago, Vicki Ebert offered to scan in her copy so that we could have both the pictures and service records online. I'm pleased to announce that all the scanning is done and I have just completed linking the scans to the names in the index. You can enter from a link on the main Kay County page <http://www.rootsweb.com/~okkay/okkay.htm> or go directly to the Kay County Honor Roll <http://www.rootsweb.com/~okkay/hrmain.htm>. I want to thank Allene and Vicki for making it possible to make this book available online. Harriette

    1. [OKGEN ] Record Group 75
    2. Information included in Record Group 75 from the National Archives is as follows: Records of Predecessor Offices; Records of the Office of Indian Trade; Correspondence of the Superintendents; Records of Trading Posts; Records from the Office of the Secretary of War; Correspondence of the Office of Indian Affairs (Central Office) and Related Records; Records of the Alaska Division of the Bureau of Indian Affairs; and Records of Field Jurisdictions. The Bureau of Indian Affairs, usually known as the Office of Indian Affairs, was established as a separate agency within the War Department in 1824. Congress established the position of Commissioner of Indian Affairs in 1832. The Office of Indian Affairs was transferred in 1849 to the newly created Department of the Interior, where it has remained. In 1947 the Office of Indian Affairs was renamed the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Source: "American Indians, A Select Catalog of National Archives Microfilm Publications." I hope this helps to clarify 'Record Group 75' instead of creating more confusion. Barbara

That tells the National Archives which group that name would be in and it would include all the Indians not just that family. Barbara

    3. i don't think blunders by the fbi are any reason for mcveigh not to pay for his admitted crime. the innocent ones he murdered had nothing to do with the fbi just as those innocent folk with korash had nothing to do with that idiots problems with them. what they did there was absolutely wrong and should never have happened and the govt needs to clean that mess and the ones responsible should have to pay for it just like mcveigh. human beings have never been perfect, never will be but i don't think that even had tim been a millionare he could have gotten off. he had/has, a big grudge against the govt because of his percieved notion of a wrong they did to him and he could have changed that by his own actions but he chose to get what he called even against innocent children ad others. it was the military he had a quarrel with,` not okla city.

    3. this stuff really upsets me no end. i am sure that there are others that were involved in this and they should be right there with mcvey when he gets his. his victims were'n given any reprieves, so why should he be? its bad enough that he killed so many adults but those innocent childrens lives when they had nothing to do with whatever he was angry for, anymore than those had in ft. worth with that david korash did. we all get angry with the government wish we could get evn with the inequities that are forced upon us but we don't go around bombing places and killing people that had nothing to do with anything orwe'd be lik those crazy terrorists in the mideast. idon't feel that killers deserve more than their victims, not only did he commit murders, so many, but h committed treason as well. the laws of the land say he should pay and without any question as to his guilt remaining, they should get on with the task at hand and get it over withnso that those families can hopefully get on with thehealing of their shattered lives and find some peace. he said he wanted it done and over and no appeals, i say e should get his wish.

    3. NO NEED TO REPLY Hi all - just so we don't go through what we did with the last one. For information only - use as you will. Another e-mail worm is making the rounds... Homepage is a fast spreading e-mail worm that infects Outlook users. see more at http://www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0,5594,2708116,00.html How it works Homepage arrives as an e-mail with the following: Subject: Homepage Body: Hi! You've got to see this page! It's really cool ;O) Attachment: Homepage.HTML.vbs If the user opens the Homepage attachment, it sends a copy of itself to everyone in your address book. Homepage then randomly chooses an adult Web page to display on the system's default Internet browser. Homepage will also search a user's Inbox and Deleted Items folder in Outlook and remove any e-mail with the subject line "Homepage." __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I think a thousand other places are sufficient. Susan has a good point. There is a forum for the McVeigh stuff at http://www.oklahoman.com/opub/forums/april19/ Thanks for understanding. How about for every angry thought you think today you visit one of the counties where your ancestor lived and post an obit or query. Dig into those files!! Many of you haven't posted the obits you have in your records. http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/indx/Ok.html Look forward to see LOTS of those obits and queries show up names of our members as posters.
