Where would someone look to find records back in the late 30's early 40's (1930-40) dealing with the sheriff's dept. (whatever was available then) in Chelsea or Tulsa area that had to do with kids.? I just found out recently that so-called father of my dad had sent a sheriff (sheriff's deputy) to scare my grandma into signing over her rights for him to take their children. They weren't divorced at this time either I don't think. Alli Researching: ABRAM--JOHNSON--PHARISS--LOVELL--ADAMS McKAY--McCALL--THOMPSON--WHITE. They all ended up in Okla. around Chelsea area. Cast Away One day a man, who has been stranded on a desert island all alone for ten years, sees an unusual speck on the horizon. "It's certainly not a ship," he thinks to himself. As the speck gets closer and closer, he begins to rule out the possibilities of a small boat, then even a raft. Suddenly, emerging from the surf, comes this stunningly gorgeous blonde wearing a wet suit and scuba gear. She approaches the man and asks, "How long has it been since you've had a cigarette? "Ten years!" he says. She reaches over and unzips a waterproof pocket on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh cigarettes. He takes one, lights it, and takes a long drag, and says, "Man, oh man!" "Is that ever good!" She then asks him, "How long has it been since you've had a sip of bourbon?" Trembling, he replies, "Ten Years!" She reaches over, unzips her waterproof pocket on her right sleeve, pulls out a flask, and gives it to him. He opens the flask, takes a long swig, and says, "Wow, that's absolutely fantastic!" Then she starts slowly unzipping the long zipper that runs down the front of her wet suit, looks at him seductively and asks, "And how long has it been since you've played around?" The man, with tears in his eyes, replies, "Oh sweet Mary, mother of God! Don't tell me you've got golf clubs in there!" ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Becky near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Jefferson County CC & listmom http://www.rootsweb.com/~okjeffer/ My personal genealogy site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ouryorks A YORK resource site for all YORK lines: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~allyorks ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

His parents ? were William Lavelle b. 09-01-1932 and ? CRAIG. This William had a brother named Wallace Lee b. 11-09-1934. Their mother was ? MANKIN. Have found the name Lavelle in a distant MANKIN, Glen Lavelle MANKIN b. 10-07-1873. This was all started by a query from a GRISSO cousin by marriage looking for help with her husband family tree. Always Always interested lol. you never know what name will pop up and help break another hunk out of that brick wall lol. I would appreciate any info. you can send me . Thank you Carma
Folks, I have just spent the most heartwarming, heartbreaking 2 hours at the OKC Memorial. I know that sounds like a contradiction but it isn't. If you haven't been, and can possibly make it, it is a must for any Oklahoman or for that matter any person. I told my son, the feeling is similar to when you see the Vietnam War Memorial. There is a great feeling of sadness over the lives lost. But the most remarkable thing I noticed was the reverance felt on those grounds. There were a large group of people there today but people were going around with tears in their eyes and it was so peaceful. As incredible as it sounds, you can't or least I couldn't hear the motor traffic on the streets surrounding the Memorial. Please make an effort if you are in the OKC area to go and see what has been there. So unfair. We're suppose to meet them in Idaho Falls which is about 2 hrs. away, but it depends on their schedule & ours (& our $$). But if we can time it right then Kelly & I can spend the day up there looking around....haven't been there in years. Pretty sad considering its the same state. I wonder what it was like for our ancestor's? I know mine traveled w/in Okla. I was given a "personal" letter from my Great Grandpa to my great Grandma. He was in Atoka (I think) & she was home, getting ready to butcher a pig (I think) he told her to have her brother's do it. I'll look for it & post it. This is the first personal letter I got from any ancestor..kinda interesting :) Alli ----- Original Message ----- From: "glswings" <glswings@pacifier.com> To: <OKGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2001 9:52 PM Subject: Re: [OKGEN ] HELLO to THE LIST > we went all over while they were here.
