    3. I was born in and lived in Runnels County for most of my life and have visited Taylor County numerous times. Never heard of Mt. Pleasant but my Roads of Texas put out by DOT indicates a small community (unnamed) just north of Buffalo Gap on Fm 1235 which is in the middle of Taylor County...not the western side of the county as indicated by the website TX online. It is north of the railroad. Probably too small for a post office in 1995. Mt. Pleasant in Titus County is your best bet...it is a community of approx. 11,000 people. Mt. Pleasant in Comanche County is a few miles north of Comanche on FM 2247. Probably too small to have a post office in 1995. Appears to have been a small community at one time. Mt. Pleasant in Freestone County is on a county road without a #. It is off of FM 1848 near Snyder Lake...near Leon County. Probably too small to have a post office...appears to have been a small community at one time. The Roads of Texas atlas is great...it shows cemeteries...mine is now close to 12 yrs old so recent issues might contain # on county roads since many had no name or # until recent years. -- Peggy <'}}}}>< Honnoll http://www.geocities.com/honnoll_honnell/index.html Winton http://www.geocities.com/mawpeggy1946/index.html

    3. Becky: Over the York's, yes, I might need to repost some information. No, I'm not missing that much as for access to those particular sites. I have everyone connected to this and the YORK line posted all over the place. My sister-in-law said it upset her when she thought she had found something good over the family connection ... there was my [jokingly] 'blasted' name again. :o) Also, for the Texas information from Bob, I'm sorry for making a mistake on that ... I was reading the E-mail address and it isn't Bob but Barb. Barb ... truly, I thank you for your help in this endeavor. Shelia C. Bachelder [email protected]

    3. Dear List: Thank you for your responses. Rebecca, yes, I am still on the other lists over that lost person in our branches. :o) As for checking the other sites, your correct there too. I need to do that more frequently over those pesky missing York's. Bob, Thank you for the Texas information. Everyone who responded, again, Thank You! Shelia Bachelder [email protected]

The others lived in the east and in Florida. however here are a couple of websites to check. www.mtpleasant-tx.com The county is Titus www.mpcity.net/library_public.htm This is the public Library www.dailytribune.net (The Local Newspaper) texas-on-line.com/graphic/mtn-plea.htm Where I found this information is on Google.com It is the best search engine for information that I have found. I have found more information here than on some of the genealogy sites. Happy Hunting Barb Ahrendt

    3. You will be looking for city directories (4 ). There are 2 Mt Pleasant cities in Texas. One in Taylor County and one in Titus County. The one in Titus county is the larger one as the one in Taylor county is wide place in the road. There are 2 more not on my map in Comanche and Freestone counties. Here is where to search for information on Texas cities. http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/index.new.html Gene At 10:17 AM 11/17/02 -0600, you wrote: >Dear List: > > My Grandmother died in 1995. 3. Hi Shelia, Are you still on the YORK lists? (Rootsweb one and the Jymis one?) Not sure if you do this periodically, but try searching the archives on those lists and the York message board - don't forget www.genforum.com If you ever want, I'll put a page or pictures or whatever up for you on the Url of York website (pronounced Earl) Here are the archives and others places to search: <http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=york> http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/york <http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.york> and GenForum: http://genforum.genealogy.com/york/ Might be worth posting where applicable again, too. 3. Hello all; I have finished the registry of (new) Mill Creek cemetery, Johnston County, OK. It will be a while before I can get it all posted and uploaded as it has about a 1,000 names. I had several request for some photos of headstones. I only found one before I lost the list. Would those that wanted a photo of a stone please re-send the names and approximate date of birth/death. There are a lot of people with the same names buried here. Sorry for this but this is what happens when there is no adult supervision. Dennis

    1. [OKGEN ] Pictures of Sallisaw
    2. lorene hopkins
    3. According to the book of Sallisaw Historical Highlights. A Pictorial History of Sallisaw, Ok. !888--1993 The land from which Sallisaw was platted was the Indian allotments of the descendants of John Foster Wheller and his wife, Nancy Paschal Watie, who was Cherokee. Among these descendants were a son, Captain Will Watie Wheeler, and a daughter, Harriet Wheller, who married Argyle Quesenbury. Are these people in your family? If so then it is quite possible they at one time did farm that land, other wise I doubt it was exactly on the main street of Sallisaw. I have some early pictures of Sallisaw, but I have loaned them out and will have to wait to get them back for now. I hope this helps you a little. Good luck with your research.
