My History teacher in the 7th grade, taught us a bit about it, only because the Hispanic kids called me half-breed.(I was suntanned-sunbleached blond-hazel eyes. And my name was "Miller". ) I am in California, my dad grew up in Oklahoma, when I read sections of the book to him, He did not know most of it either. His grandma was part Cherokee-but insisted that no one know. My mom is from Texas-it was not taught there either. Sandy [email protected]

It is not something the American History /Government , wants taught in our education system, for obvious reasons. They were all from Greenleaf, Oklahoma. Festus was born around 1861 or so. He was 18 in 1880 when he married Sarah "Louisa" Wallace/Wallis. They moved to Texas. Festus ran with the Jesse James gang (I was told) and he was shot and killed by US Marshalls in the Badlands, he was 52 or 53 when he was shot and killed. That was in about 1905-1914 or so. 3. I'm wondering if anybody knew my grandfather's half brother, George Gorden (or Gorden). He was born about 1885 in Arkansas, son of W.H. (Henry) Gordon and Mary J. (Renfro) Gordon. George had a daughter named Lela, and my mother corresponded with Lela up to about 1959, and at that time Lela lived in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. I believe her father George also lived there. Unfortunately, I don't know who Lela married nor her married surname. I found an SSDI record of a George Gordon who died in Ninnekah about 1970 and I've verified that's NOT the one I'm looking for. I'd love to get in touch with any Lela or her descendants or George's. Can anybody help? Bev Graham
