OKLAHOMA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY NEWS RELEASE OKLAHOMA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING APRIL 7, 2003 Jim Slade will speak on "Land Records--How to Find Them at the Courthouse and On-line" for the Monday, April 7, 2003 meeting of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society. His slide presentation will discuss various types of land records, explain how to find the documents themselves and then demonstrate how to locate the actual parcel of land it describes. Jim Slade is a Professional Civil Engineer and holds Land Surveyor Registration No. 4 in the State of Oklahoma. He is a native Oklahoman who has been researching family history since 1975. Jim lectures frequently at National Genealogical Conferences and has been published in several national genealogical magazines. Since retiring, Jim and his wife Jennie have lectured about genealogy aboard several cruise ships. Jim is past Chairman of the National Genealogical Society Computer Interest Group and is currently on the NGS/GENTECH Advisory Council. He serves on the Board of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society. Still looking for a Sarah Elizabeth O'Quinn that married a James Talley (Tally) in OK. They may of lived in Muskogee around 1900. Thank-You everyone!! I think that Peggy Wilson found her! Sara Elizabeth was born in 1862 in Laclede Co, MO. We also believe her younger sister went to take care of her when she fell ill and after she died, she married her husband We have wondered for yrs what happened to her and her sister, Martha Jane (Janie) and where they might be buried. If I now have her in Greer Co in Quartz Twp. can anyone look up who else was in the household.? I would sure appreciate it. Maybe she is in that area in the 1900 or 1920 census as well.
