Suzanne, I looked at all my Garfield Co. Cemetery records and don't find a Charles / Eva Rogers buried in Garfield Co. I did find a Rev. John B. Rogers and his wife Susnanah J. buried in the Douglas Union Cemetery. 1847-1941 and 1848-1932 . I though I saw where you were looking for a John also. I went to the library this afternoon & looked in the Garfield Co. Ok. census. I actually found the family I was looking for in the 1910 & 1920 census. I got so excited I looked around for someone to hug but didn't see a soul I knew...decided a stranger might not understand so I refrained. Then I got a bonus tonight. Bob sent me a high school year book picture of my great uncles son. So I had a really good day. Here's what I found in the census. 1910 Census for Garfield County Oklahoma Robert E Duncan 43 m, Farmer, born Kentucky Ula L. 27 f born Kentucky Cyril 4 m born Oklahoma William 2 m born Oklahoma 1920 Census for Garfield County Oklahoma Robert E Duncan 53 m, Farmer, Kentucky Ula L. 39 f, Kentucky Cyril Ralph 14 m, Oklahoma William 11 m, Oklahoma Milton C. 9 m, Oklahoma Arthur S 7 m, Oklahona Edwin 4, 4/12 m, Oklahoma Syndell 2, 3/12 m, Oklahoma

Hello Rosemary, As I recall Robert Duncan graduated from Garber High School 2 or 3 years before I did. I did not know him, but I do remember another Duncan boy who was 1 or 2 yrs ahead of me in school. I believe they called him Junior Duncan. It is possible that he was the "Robert" you mention. I thought one of them was killed during the war but could be wrong. I was in the Pacific theater of the war the last two years of the war. I do have a high school year book that covers from about 1920 to about 1970, if you would like for me to look up any names etc. Sorry that I don't remember more. Hi Bob, Thanks for your reply. Any info on dates or any thing would help as I'm kinda starting out without much info. Something in the year books might give me a lead. I found an article in the Chronicles of OK were he was awared the Navy Cross between between Dec. 7, 1941 - July 1, 1945. His official home address was OK (born in Garber) but living in Winfield Kansas. Is Hunter OK in Garfield County? There is a R E Duncan listed in the 1917 Tax list. Thanks, Rosemary Fort Smith, AR
Did any one on this list attend the Lincoln Elementary School in Enid, Ok and was in a class being taught by a Mrs. Nickerson, most likely fist or second grade? Kathleen Burnett
Mary Ann, I can't give you very much but will try. I grew up in that oil field about 1 1/2 miles NW of the school. However, I never attended the school nor did I ever travel on the road to it. I caught a school bus and attended the Garber school system. Some friends of mine who attended the Sinclair school there in the field may be able to answer your questions. You should be able to reach them by email at this address: Clyde & Mary English, w5ptm1@juno.com I do not remember the location of the cemetery at Covington but you could find it in five minutes just driving through town.... it is a very small town. You could get off of I-35 at the Enid ramp. About half way to Enid you will turn south on old highway 74 for ~6 miles and you will be in Covington. Just one and a half miles south of where you turn onto 74, if you went one mile east and one mile south, the old Sinclair school is in that area. But Mary and Clyde English could give you more precise directions. I do not know if the school is still standing or not. Good luck with your search. I'm looking for information about a family who moved to Oklahoma from KY after 1902. Robert E Lee Duncan Sr.and wife Ula Lena Catlett Duncan. Robert Sr. was still living in OK in 1941. Have found a Robert E Lee Duncan Jr. born in Garber OK who was a Lieut. (jg) in US Navy durning World War 11. He was awarded the Navy Cross. I beleive this is the same family that came from KY. Does any one know this family? Thanks, Rosemary
Does anyone know where the Covington oil field school was? Is it still standing? My grandmother taught at the school and lived in the teacherage. Also, do you have directions to the Covington Cemetery? My great grandparents are buried there and I might like to stop by on our way from TX to ILL at the end of the month. I would be coming from I-35. Is there anyone on this list living in Enid Oklahoma? Kathleen Burnett
The Duff school house was actually SE of Garber. From Garber go south on Hiway 74 about 3 miles. Then go east on 412 for 5 miles. Turn and south. It is across the road south from an underground house that is there now. My fifth grade teacher taught there for several years before she taught in the Garber School System. This would have been in the 1940's or 1950's.
It was located near the community where I grew up NorthEast of Garber OK. (Or at least a Duff School was, don't know for sure about the #50) I will give it some thought or ask my brothers who have better memories than I do and get back to you. Dear Friends, Hi. My name is Janie and I am new on the genealogy trail looking for my mother's ancestor's. My great-grandfather was Andrew Puckett who married a Mary. No other information available on these two. His son, my Grandfather was James Willis/Wilson Puckett b. 1 Jan 1882, Gower, MO, d. 2 Sep. 1947 in Drummond, Garfield Co., OK. He married Bessie Skala/Skaler, (no date). She was b. 23 Sep. 1884 in Chadron, Dawes Co., NE and d. 2 Dec. 1967 in Enid, Garfield, Co., OK. They are both buried in Del Nord Cemetary in Drummond, OK. Their descendants are: Lela, Andrew, Ray, Emma, Vearel, Vera, Ruthie, Earl, Earnest, Delmer and Arnold Puckett. My questions: 1) Where exactly is Del Nord Cemetary and how would I access records for it? 2) Has anyone heard of my family line? Or my great-grandparents? Thanks for any help you can provide! :-) Mary Jane Johnson Harris (Janie) janiesattic@home.com
Kathryn, I looked at the Enid Cemetery Books, Memorial Park Cemetery, From 1920's and the Garfield Co. Cemetery Books and find only one Tarr .
