Daine and list members. I will answer Daine and also email the list in case anyone else needs information on the Criddle Funeral Home. I had never heard of it and ask some questions and found out the Russworm Funeral Home has the old records. I called Mr. Kenneth Russworn today and he was very kind and went to the funeral home to lookup the records. First he said the records were from 1929 and didn't have anything for a Nora Henley, who you believe died in about 1921/1922 However he does have the funeral record for Frank Henley born 1842 in Alabama, died Nov. 21, 1929 and is buried in the Hennessey, Kingfisher Co., Cemetery. His Father was named Gar Henley and Mother was listed as Unkown. I ask him if there were other Henleys listed and he said there were several. He said he would be glad to send you the record if you would like. Address is; Russworm Funeral Home 476 E. State St. Enid, OK 73701 Maybe She used a middle name or something. Also I told someone on the list last week that the Garfield Co. Court House had never burned... I asked around last week and found that it did. I don't believe any of the records burned as we have marriage records from 1893 and probate, divorce, etc. birth and death records are kept at the state level. Lois

My father was Bert Lewis ( born Bert Samuel) Frank born in 1899 in Kingfisher Co., Ok Terr. We have many cousins in Ok. and Ks. Any suggestions for where to search would be more than welcome. If anyone would be willing to search for me I would be glad to talk to them about the cost. Marian Frank Alvis Boise, Id. marian@cyberhighway.net

Hi Lois----This doesn't sound like my Dyer. I have the death certificate of Charles H. Dyer b.12 Jan 1872 and d.28 Apr 1957. Lists him as widowed. His wife, Laura, died in 1924. He could have married again, but not in 1908. Thank you for your time and effort, I appreciate it. J.D. Thank you for the kind words.. It is what I work for. There are school books at the library and I will check. I called the Cherokee Strip museum and ask if they had any information on D.W. Eastman and they are checking and ask me if they could have a copy of the obit for him for their records. As he was the curator for the Land Office in 1900 they were interested. Mr. Dodd, I found an obit for Jean Hunt buried in Enid Memorial Cemetery. Very short, Died Oct. 23, 1992 Henninger-Allen Funeral Home, Born Dec. 12, 1916 in Hopkinsville, Kent?? (maybe KY) to Major and Cleve Mitchell. She married William " Bill" Hunt in 1956 and lived in Enid. She is survived by her husband. Dyer: I found both obits for Charles and Margaret. What information do you need? They were married May 3, 1908 in Enid. He was born in Pilot Point, TX moved to Ok as a young man, settling near Duncan, OK. Lists two sons, C.L. and C.R. a sister Mrs. Ollie King, Duncan OK. Margaret's lists two sons and four brothers. Levi, Earl of Enid and Jim of Skellytown and Luther of Ada, OK. Holcomb and Stoner I will answer later, Lois
Looking for records from Criddle Funeral Home. The names I'm looking for are RUSSELL, Catherine(Catharine) and Daniel. I'm also interested in HENLEY, Frank andNora. I'm told Criddle has changed hands and possibly names, but in the early 1900's it was the only funeral parlor that handles people of color, both Indians and Blacks. Looking for funeral/death/obit records on the aforementioned names. many thanks, diane
A couple of weeks ago I asked for help finding David W. Eastman. Lois Burdick has been fantastic. She found so much information for me that it will take me a week to get put into my computer. I have seen other messages from her to other folks with a lot of info too. Thank you, Lois. Now that I've buttered her up.... I have just found another connection to Enid. David Eastman's daughter, Marion, married John H. ABRAMS, their only child was my grandmother, Nelle Ruth ABRAMS. Mr. ABRAMS was a railroad official and was the Superintendent of the Colorado and Southeastern Railway during 1905-1907. I suspect this was in Enid. Nelle ABRAMS attended school in Enid from 1905-1908, she spent her Sophomore and Junior years of high school in Enid. So my question is, are their high school yearbooks that might have a photo of her? Thanks once again, JD Howard Roswell, NM
