I've seen the books there from the Dunaway Funeral Home (yes, dun-away...no pun intended!) which is now the Schumacher Funeral Home. They have really done a splendid job with it, and have a small but effective genealogy room with a microfilm reader, most all of the Bristow newspapers on microfilm, certain funeral home records, books about the history of Bristow, Creek County, and Oklahoma, and many other sources. If any of you on the list are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Yes, Donna, I am related to the GILREATHs you are researching in some way I'm sure. Descended from William GILREATH of North Carolina b. abt. 1730. My direct line stems from my great-grandfather, Thomas Sylvester GILREATH, who lived in Depew, OK at the time of his death. He is buried in the Depew Cemetery along with his wife, Cynthia. Their son Frank Harvy GILREATH is my grandfather. He married Theda Ethel SMITH of Bristow, daughter of Claude Marion SMITH and Nellie Edith RAMSEY. Their daughter, Joyce Michelle GILREATH is my mother. If anyone else on the list is researching any of these people, let me know! I will post dates and more info. soon. Thanks! ~Lisa L. Bowen, Bristow OK
