    1. [OKCREEK-L] My Creek Co. Connection
    2. Hello list, I've posted here once before but only in a general sense. I've been lurking so that I could get a feel for how this list works. I must say that I have learned a lot from the info you folks are sharing. Please allow me to introduce my brick walls and myself. My name is Rory Patterson (nee Wood). I am the daughter of one Walter Nelson Wood, son of Walter Winton and Juanita Louise (Bruton) Wood. I know very little about any of them. Below is what I do know: Walter Nelson Wood (my father) born 4/14/1928 in Drumright, Creek Co., OK. He claims Dr. Starr delivered him. A member of this list has confirmed to me that such a record exists. However, I am attempting to prove it is my father since all it mentions in Dr. Starr's records at the museum in Drumright is that he delivered a son to one Walter Wood on that date with no mother listed. I visited the Clerk of Court in Drumright in April this year when I stumbled on it by accident. Long story :). Anyway, the only records they have there that go back that far are divorce records. I looked to see if maybe there was one for my grandparents since she left him when my father was two years old. There didn't seem to be one. I was told that I would have to look for birth and marriage records in Oklahoma City. So, I'm kind of stuck since OK City didn't find a birth record for my dad. I now believe his given name may have been different at birth. Anyway, my grandmother, Louise, according to her death certificate is buried in Drumright Cemetery as Juanita Louise Ritchie. I could not locate the grave as I was on a pretty strict schedule and didn't get a chance to walk through the entire cemetery. How can I find any of the info that I so desperately seek? I realize that going up to OK City would help a great deal, especially since I'm only a couple of hours away. Are these records available on the weekends? I would gladly trade lookups here in exchange for someone doing the same for me there. The Dallas Public Library has a wonderful genealogy section. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you, Rory
