    1. Re: [OKCREEK-L] funeral homes

    3. In 1920, people in OK (and possibly other places) were still just buring their dead, especially children and not using funeral homes. My Dad's half-sister died of the flu and his father asked a man where the nearest graveyard was. He was directed to the cemetery at Castle OK. They lived between Okemah and Castle. He built a box and buried her marking her grave with a brick with her name and date. He later had a headstone installed with her full name, birth and death dates. The brick is still there, but the writing has been gone for many years. My Dad remembers this happening even later to neighbors after the family had moved to the Depew, Davenport and Chandler areas. >From: Robert Marden <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [OKCREEK-L] funeral homes >Date: Tue, 12 Oct 1999 13:56:10 -0500 > >Friends, For some time, I have been trying to find info of the grave of >Luella Radell Marden, who was born dead at Kiefer in 1913.
