Your message reminded me of Shamrock in Creek County. Did you know it is considered a ghost town because of its large population drop. In 1913 it was a sleepy hamlet of about 35 people. Then in 1914 oil was discovered nearby and the population exploded to over 10,000 people. After the oil boom subsided so did the population. It's back to being a sleepy little town again. My stepfather was born there in 1919. I'm sure his parents probably came there because of the oil field. That was the occupation him and at least 3 of his brothers followed. If you look on a map that shows all roads, you will see a huge network or roads northeast of Shamrock and southeast of Drumright. I think that's where the oilfields were. ==== OKCREEK Mailing List ==== Have you visited our Creek Co.
