I was going through my house deed (it goes back to 1904) and found some personal papers (marriage record, divorce record, veterans pension, and tax papers) for Roy E. Proffitt. I have done a small amount of research on the family, so if you can show you are related to him I'll be glad to mail these papers to you. -- Bobbi Dunn http://myfamily.150m.com Volunteer for RAOGK in Creek Co., OK http://www.raogk.org/ alternate email: bluerose68@yahoo.com Proud Member of: IBSSG http://blacksheep.rootsweb.com/ Webmaster for Depew PTA http://depewpta.150m.com Coordinater for Okmulgee OKGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~okokmulg/index.html Volunteer for Creek County OKGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcreek/

How many cemeteries do you actually have for Depew? My son told me about an Indian cemetery here in Depew, he didn't know the name of it, but I can go by what cemeteries you have for Depew to know if you have it. The ones I know of are: Bailey's Oakdale Memorial Club Unknown Pauper's graves I'm planning on taking pictures of the following in Depew for you: entrance to Memorial Club (next to Oakdale) sign on 66 pointing to Bailey and probably entrance, haven't actually been to this one so not sure how it is marked. (btw is that a full canvas you have for it?) the "unknown pauper's gravesite" located on 66 between Bristow and Depew Now, do you want entrance pictures for Bristow City and Magnolia? There is also 44 cemetery and Harlansville. Now the most popular way to get to Harlansville is actually off of hwy 48 between Bristow and Mounds direction. I can get you the sign on hwy and entrance to that one as well. You take hwy 66 3 miles north out of Bristow, turn left on 48 and go approximately 1 1/2 to 2 miles. The sign is on the left. You take the road to the y and go left, Harlansville is on the right. If you follow that road you come out on hwy 16 about 7 miles or less from Bristow. Almost right in between Bristow and Shamrock. I do not know if there is a sign there or not, but will look while I'm out there. 44 aka Oakhill, you go 4 miles on 66 north of bristow and that is where the turn is, you turn right and follow that road, cemetery is on the left. I can get a couple of headstone pics there as well as my cousin and his dad are buried there (Eddie Mac Smith Bear and Bobby Bear). There is also a cemetery behind a church on hwy 16 in Slick. Wasn't sure if you had that one or not. Is that the Taber Cemetery? If so, I'll see what I can do to get something on that one, you have to drive to the church and then go behind it, and the gate to the church is always locked when I've been to Slick, my inlaws live there. But, I can park on the hwy and walk up it isn't far from the road. Provens cemetery looks to me like it's on the Kellyville Slick road. I'll check into that one for you as well. I also think I know the road that Bigpond Cemetery is on, I'll look of it too. Baker Cemetery in Kellyville: Located on hwy 66, coming from Bristow, it is located on the left side of the road, right before the service station on the left. From what I have seen there are only about 5 interments in that cemetery, it is a family cemetery. Looking at the map, Bucktrot cemtery is located off of hwy 48 toward Gypsy from Bristow. Very close to Gypsy. I will also check into Falls as I don't know of a Chapel road unless it is the dirt road going to Fisher's egg farm. But the township map shows it on the other side of Slick which would be the one behind the church. One map shows it on south side one map shows it on north side, any idea? Melvin Wright Ireland is still listed in index as Irelane for Mounds cemetery. Looks like Mutteloke is located on same road as Bigpond, which is the back road of Depew that leads to Gypsy. I'll find out the exact name of that road and see if I can find it when I look for Bigpond. There are 2 cemeteries in Mounds, I can't remember the name of the other one, but do know that when I was talking to Mr. McNabb, he mentioned that other cemetery but stated it only had old interments in it, so I took it that it is not being used any more. I've got a pic of Dr. Benjamin Franklin Ball and wife Susannah Wasson Ball, (Oakhill Mannford) they are related to me as well. I'll get it to you soon. I have lots of information on the Wasson line. I'll try to get exact location of Sub STation for you too. That isnt' far from Harlansville. Only about 10 more miles if that. Info about Wilson aka Newby cemetery. There are NO available records regarding interments before the 1930's. They were stored in a church that burned, so if anyone (and there is at least one I know of) that is in an unmarked grave buried before the 1930's there is NO record unless it is found on a death certificate, obit, or other document. I know you probably didn't mean to send this to the list, but since it is, I would love to connect with anyone researching this family. I just recently learned that Donna Mae was my grandfather's first wife. Her maiden name was Kitterman, but can't find Mildred with Donna's father in any census records just the stepfather Charles McGinty, but I did find the marriage record for Donna and my grandfather. So, if anyone is researching Mildred ? Kitterman McGinty or Donna Mae Kitterman Gilreath ? ( I know she remarried at least once, but dont' know who) I would love to hear from you. -- Bobbi Dunn http://myfamily.150m.com Volunteer for RAOGK in Creek Co., OK http://www.raogk.org/ alternate email: bluerose68@yahoo.com Proud Member of: IBSSG http://blacksheep.rootsweb.com/ Webmaster for Depew PTA http://depewpta.150m.com On Sat, 30 Oct 2004 22:51:33 -0700 (PDT), OKGenWeb Creek Co.
