Hi,Kathy! You may have just mentioned some info that I am looking for! My Mother (Margaret Elizabeth Gillentine b.30 Jan 1914,Ennis,Ellis Co.TX) started school around Shamrock ca.1919-20 and her older brother,James Russell Gillentine (b.July 1912,Vernon,Wilbarger Co.TX) also went to school there.Their parents were James A.and Liddie Ann Pringle Gillentine and James worked in the oilfields. I was just there in September but could find no school records.Sure hope you can direct me as to how/where to obtain their school records. Would also like to find a death record of their younger sister,Georgia Rita who d. there in the Flu epidemic of 1918 at 21 months of age. Any tips on that? Here's hoping! Thanks for any help or referrals you may be able to provide. With warm regards, Lola Sanderson Marsal
Tracey, where is this murder supposed to have taken place? There is a guy in Oilton who knows quite a bit about the history of the Oilton area. More later. That would be the U.G. #5 school. East of Shamrock. My mother and her family went there also. They have a reunion every September in Drumright. Tell your aunt Mildred I said hello. Hi, Couldn't help notice the murder theme here......I'm looking for information regarding a murder that took place in the Happy Corner area about 1917. Bob, I will have to read Newsome's book. We have unsolved mysteries in CA all the time. The most recent is the disappearance of Christine Williams of Fort Ord. That is only about 45 miles from here. In fact,we were over by there today. She was abducted off the Fort while walking her dog. She has been gone for 3-4 months. Yesterday, they said something about her parents are beginning to give up hope. I don't know how true that is...I saw them at the Garlic Festival and they were pretty upbeat then but it had only been a couple of weeks when she disappeared. Thanks for the informtion. Marcia
Bob, Thanks for the reply. I don't guess your murder mysteries would have anything to do with mine. Mine is my g-gpa (I never knew him) He was found murder (executed is what my g-ma says) in a field. ---- The time frame had to be about Dec. 1932-July 1933 (possibly a few months after July.) My g-ma's d-day is July 13th and he was supposedly killed before she was ever born) He was either married to (or had an affair with) my g-gma Lucy Lillian McGUFFIN. My g-ma never knew about him until she was in her 20's. She has a mixed up version of what happened.....there are a couple of different stories. One is that he was killed because he was married with children and was taking advantage of my g-gma, who was much younger than him (She would have been about 21) Another story is that he wasn't killed at all, and was actually a doctor in Tulsa. My grandma said that the names she was given (apparently the relative couldn't make up their mind) was Orby YORK or possibly the last name RHINEHOLD...RHINEHEART....or something like that. My g-ma has a VERY fair complextion, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her mother was VERY Cherokee...Blue/Black hair, dark eyes, etc... so we assume that my g-ma took her looks from her dads side of the family.... only we don't know who that is. My grandma's first name is Letha....after doing research for 10 years, I now realize that's not such an uncommon name for the time. Darn! =o) My g-gma, Lucy, married Alvin GOWER about 1933-34...their first child, together, was born in Dec. 1934. They went on to have 7 children in all, including my g-ma. Grandma has always said something about her mother being indentured to Alvin..... but we never knew why. Thanks! Tracey Gregory [email protected]

Tracey, I have a daughter named Tracy About the mysteries. D. Earl Newsom, who lives in Stillwater, has written two books. The murders and one disappearance happened in the early 1920s. One was the assistant minister at First Baptist in Drumright. He simply vanished one Wed. nite and was never seen again. They found his clothes in a bloody bundle near a bridge at the edge of Drumright. The bridge has mostly been washed away. I have been to the site. Newsom told me that there was another site where they thought he might have been buried. The murder of a Catholic priest happened within a two year period. I'm not sure which occurred first. The priest resided in Drumright. He was headed for the country of Belgium when he was murdered in Fort Wayne, Ind. The killer was never caught. The third victim was a young boy. He was kidnapped and murdered. The killer was never caught Evidently, there are no police files on these cases. I'm told there are other unsolved murders near Oilton and at least one disappearance in Oilton. This is a summation. Write me if you have more questions. I talked to Newsom by phone. Sure wish he was on the net. Sincerely, Bob Marden John & Tracey Gregory wrote: > Bob, I am also looking for information about a murder (possible > disappearance) in Creek County. Marcia, All 3 happened in the early 1920s. They are discussed in the books by Newsome. One was the assistant preacher at First Baptist in Drumright. He disappeared on a Wednesday nite and was never seen again. They are not sure where his body is. They found his clothes in a bundle. The clothes were bloody, and they thought he might havebecome part of a bridge under construction. There was another theory that he was buried elsewhere. As of a few months ago, he had relative still living in Drumright. The Catholic priest who was murdered lived in Drumright. He had received death threats. While on a trip, he was murdered in Fort Wayne, IN. The killer was never caught. The 3rd victim was a boy 9-12. I've forgotten his exact age. I just checked. D. Earl Newsom of Stillwater has written two books which are still available. He gives the names of the mysteries mentioned above. I talked to him by phone. No one can find the police files on these cases. Evidently, they don't exist , if they ever did. I am also told there were unsolved murders around Oilton, but I don't have any specific info. Anyway, the little boy was evidently abducted and killed. When his body was found a few months later in the area around Drumright, it is mentioned as a sex crime. The murderer was never found. If you have any more questions or interests, please contact me. Sincerely, Bob Marden Marcia Mondier Perguidi wrote: > Bob, > > What murders? Time frame. > > I'm a big mystery buff. Bob, What murders? Time frame. I'm a big mystery buff. If it happened after I left there I wouldn't have heard of them. Marcia
Bob, I am also looking for information about a murder (possible disappearance) in Creek County. Who do your mysteries involve? Thanks, Tracey
Marcia, One of the things I am interested about Creek County is a couple of unsolved murders and a disappearance in Drumright. None of these was ever solved. Bob, I was born in Tulsa and raised in a little spot out side of Sapulpa (Bowden, OK). My brother still lives in the house my grandfather built in the '40's. I went to Sapulpa High School as did my father before me. My brothers still live there and around Sapulpa. I have 3. I came to CA in 1964, started a new career in my late 20's and married, and have been here ever since. I try to get back to Sapulpa as often as I can. I am gld to see the Creek County List is getting some action. This is the most that I have seen since I signed on about a year or so ago. Marcia
Marcia, I was born in Creek Co., but we moved to Texas when I was about 5. A part of my heart will always be in the county. Females are harder to find than males on the net. Just keep searching if you are looking for someone. Sincerely, Bob Marden Marcia Mondier Perguidi wrote: > Bob, > > I wasn't interested in finding Burnis Peacock. Kathy, Thanks. I have already bookmarked the website, but, computer locked up before I could read anything. Marcia
Bob, I wasn't interested in finding Burnis Peacock. His sons are my daughter's cousins and they know where everyone resides. I just used his name to that I went to school with him at Olive. I was just wondering about Betty Farmer. She is the only one that I remember in my class. I only went to school there one semester before going back to Sa pulpa. My family lived on the old Lacey place in Olive. I believe it was 1952. I remember Jimmie Marrs, too. Thanks for your help, anyway. Marcia Gilroy, CA
One of the boys is Leon, the other is Danny. They still live right out where there parents lived. Kathy Are you aware of the Olive HS web page at <http://wordpix.com/olivehs/> Willa Dean has corresponded there. I think you are right about Barbara being one of the girls, and I believe one of the boys is Leon. At 23:58 on 11 Nov 98, you wrote: > Willa Dean Farmer was in my class. Marcia, If you go to the Olive Alumni site: http://www.wordpix.com/olivehs/guestlog.htm you'll see where a couple of the Farmer's have left messages. Is she any relation to Bill Aust? Kathy >I went to Olive school (Creek County) with Mary Lou Aust. About 1943 to 1950. >Do not know what happened to her. >[email protected] >
