Walter, Nice to hear from you. Pardon the reply button, but had trouble send email. Drumright is right in there Oilton. My condolences on your brother. Will be at the Oilton Cemetery and will pay my respects to your brother. Have you ever heard the story of the Baptist minister who disappeared in 1921? His name was B. H. Montelius. He was never seen again. Kenneth Garven Williams was kidnapped and murdered in 1922. His killer was never brought to justice. Thanks for writing. I am not from Oilton, but close by in Drumright. I went to Drumright schools. I have been gone from there since 1962; however, I was in Drumright for the funeral of one of my brothers on May 5th. He was buried in the Oilton cemetery. The Sapulpa Public Library has a great genealogy department. They have the Creek County censuses and many others. researching-HILAND-ROGERS Wilma
Thanks Robert, I think you have the right idea. It would be nice to know if there was someone living in Creek County who was able to point people in the right direction. I'd be interested in finding out what land & title offices serve the greater Paden, Oklahoma area and what graveyards are nearby. Who knows, there might be somebody very familiar with that area on this list. Thanks once again, Eric Clay Johnson [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert Marden <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 15, 1999 3:41 PM Subject: [OKCREEK-L] Eric Clay Johnson > Eric, what we need is someone who knows all about the Creek Co. > records. The reunion is Saturday, May 29. Most of the visiting is done between 10am and 2pm. I believe that this year there will be a fish dinner held at the high school about noon. > Friends, does anyone have any info on the Oilton reunion which is > supposed to be held Memorial Day weekend? Eric, what we need is someone who knows all about the Creek Co. records. Let's see if we can get some help along that line. Folks, where are all the records? Are they in Oklahoma City, where? Anyone out there working with the censuses? I saw a few posts on these land records, but I don't have them now. We can all help one another. Thanks, Bob Marden
Friends, We need a geneaologist on this forum who knows more than I do. We need someone who is familiar with all the records, who knows where to go to get what, etc. My expertise is in "missing persons," so I am not aware of all the ancestry resources. Please come forward, Mr., Miss, Mrs. or Ms., eve mme, anyone who might be able to assist. I will do what I can, but we need a Creek County expert. Thanks, Bob Marden
The land records for Paden would probly be in Okemah, Ok Ona
What do you need in Creek Co. records. I live close to Sapulpa (Co. Seat). I was raised there. I have been checking on some land records for a woman. They have them at the Collins Building. But they are not indexed by name. You would have to know where the land is or go thru all the books. let me know what you need. Ona

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: {not a subscriber} Re: [OKCREEK-L] free offer Date: Sat, 15 May 1999 11:55:12 -0700 (PDT) From: "Eric C. Johnson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> References: <[email protected]> Robert, I have a feeling you will be overwhelmed with requests, but I thought I would go ahead and give you the basics of my search anyway and see what happens. I am searching for any information on HENRY CLAY JOHNSON and his wife NANCY ANN JOHNSON. The two were married in ILL. in 1866 and homesteaded land in Creek County five miles NE of Paden sometime in the late 1870s. They lived there through the 1890s and raised nine children- AMOS, PATRICK HENRY, LAVINA, JIM, JOHN, SAM, EVERETT, TOM, TRENT. Nancy was part Indian (possibly Creek) and was deeded 40 acres of land by the government somewhere in Creek County. The deeded land could have been near the land where they were homesteading NE of Paden, but unsure. The land they were homesteading was leased to them by Creek Subordinate Chief Jackson Night. One of their Children, JIM JOHNSON was the only child to remain in OK and he was eventually given the farm. He married a woman named EFFIE and after JIM died she took over ownership of the farm. I would imagine they're children own the farm today, or the farm was sold when she passed-on. I would be interested in finding any information on these relatives, especially JIM JOHNSON because he was probably buried near Paden in Creek County. Friends, does anyone have any info on the Oilton reunion which is supposed to be held Memorial Day weekend? Thanks, Bob Marden We never received a notice in the mail on the thing.
My family knew Howard Tipton well. Did you ever hear of the Peden family in Oilton? My Grandad worked for McBride Oil and lived on the lease until he retired and moved to Oilton. Thanks. Would be in the '90s since Maude Mary Jane Wiggins was born in Boone County. As for Coker's I think they were in and out of Boone '40s on. (1800's of course) Wanda
