Hi Norma.....I don't know if this little tid bit of info will be helpful or not, but it could possibly be another lead. As a child, (I was raised in Sapulpa) my parents had some friends in Turley, OK which is about 15 miles north of Tulsa which is about 13 miles north of Sapulpa.....anyway, their name was Webber. Charles Webber I believe. They had a son named Pepper (don't know his given name) we always just called him Pepper.....so, you might try locating them through the town of Turley. It was just a thought since Turley is so close to Creek Co. and I wish you good luck!!! Jerri [email protected]
I have found the marriage of Horatio GOWER and Leah McCARTY listed on the Broderbund CD #403, by Yates Publishing Co. It is labeled "Selected U.S.-International Marriage Records 1340-1980". One lists Source #596.000 and the other Source #6762.004. Does anyone know what these numbers mean and how I can go about getting the record? Thanks for your help. Jan in CA
Hello! I am new to the list and need your help, please. Seeking information on Forester Edward Webber and Martha Nitefeurd, who had son, Raymond Webber supposedly born 20 Apr 1891 in Creek Co., and a younger daughter, Dorothy, birthplace/date unknown. Probably another son, name unknown. Nitefeurd is a rather unusual name and have not been able to locate any record showing that name. It is believed (but have absolutely NO proof) that Martha was Cherokee Indian. Does anyone have any information on people with these names, or variants? Any help or suggestons would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Norma
Marti: I am so glad you are going to put the Sapulpa Cemetery on line. Living in CA I probably will never get back there, and my husband has relatives buried there. Can't wait!! Thanks. Hi Bob - I've been copying the Old Sapulpa Cemetery records into a dbase for easier lookups and noticed a number of people listed as being from Kiefer. I remembered your Marden quest when I came to the following: MARDEN, infant f W. H. Marden b/d 10 Mar 1915 Location 101-1 A map of the cemetery can be seen at http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcreek/cemetery/oldsapcem.htm Hope this helps in some small way. Hi everyone - time to revive the Creek Co. mailing list and what a great way to do that!! Loy and JoAnn from the Sapulpa Public Library have generously volunteered to do lookups by email for "specific sources" -- see http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcreek/sapulpa.html for details. Hopefully they will like their new page so well they will let me add more at a later time. PLEASE - don't overwhelm them - request just one name/source per email. Be as specific as possible. send email to - [email protected] Enjoy! Hi all - hope this helps someone -- FWIW, I **do not** know if this is the complete Dawes Rolls or just a portion. I saved this from several months ago - just tried it and the instructions are still valid. Please read all of the instructions. Marti http://www.nara.gov/nara/nail.html click on Search Archival Holdings follow directions below -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Dawes Rolls (NAIL) Date: Sun, 14 Mar 1999 00:07:35 -0500 From: Cheryl Conway <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Somebody asked how to get the digitized copies of Dawes Rolls on NAIL. I'm using 'em now, so I've got 'em handy. Ok: there are 2 files of the type you are referring to (digitized on-line source, page by page.) These are: 1. Final Rolls of the Citizens & Freedmen of the 5 Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory, 634 pg.s. Lists the names of the individuals who were allowed on the tribal rolls by the Dawes Commission. 2. Index to the Final Rolls of Citizens and Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory, 635 pg.s. Lists the names of the individuals who were allowed on the tribal rolls by the Dawes Commission. (I'm not sure myself what's the difference between these 2.) 1. To search "Final Rolls": a. select STANDARD or EXPERT search b. In the first keywords box, type "Final Rolls" c. Check the checkbox for ONLY DESCRIPTIONS LINKED TO DIGITAL COPIES [Red letters above the keywords box - see additional info below] d. SUBMIT the search e. The "Number of Hits" indicator will go from 0 to 1. f. hit DISPLAY RESULTS 2. To search "Index to Final Rolls" (nearly same thing): a. select STANDARD or EXPERT search b. In the first keywords box, type "Index to Final Rolls" c. Check the checkbox for ONLY DESCRIPTIONS LINKED TO DIGITAL COPIES d. SUBMIT the search e. The "Number of Hits" indicator will go from 0 to 1. f. hit DISPLAY RESULTS For both of these, when you hit display results (to display the 1 hit result) it brings up a list, where each list item is the link to the graphic for each of the 634 or so digitized pages. If you then click\ on any item in the list, the literal digitized page of the document will be displayed (it's a large graphic, so it may take some time). I play "Solitaire" while waiting for each graphic to load (to the point where it's legible) and then decide whether to save it or search more forwards/backwards. The lists are more or less in alphabetical order, so you can do this. Start to finish in the index, is pretty much alpha-order A => Z, but on each page, sometimes the order gets a bit scrambled. I hope this helps! /Cheryl Conway [email protected] - ------------------------------ [email protected] wrote: The directions you give are exact and easy to follow, and, are what NAIL instructs. I believe you get exactly the same ALPHA listing for both entries. Try entering Final Rolls without checking the ONLY DESCRIPTIONS LINKED TO DIGITAL COPIES. You will get four hits. The 2nd and 3rd hits will give you the alpha index or the final rolls in roll number sequence by category. Then each entry will include more information, e. g., blood degree, age, and the all important CENSUS CARD Number. Marti wrote on 08 Jun 1999 - I found when I got these four hits I had to click on the 'full' button of a number that had the red dot for 'digital copy available' (#2 & 3) On the next screen I had to click on 'Links to digital copies' then wait and wait.... before receiving another list of links - clicking on one of these will bring up the digital display of that page -- AND is it slow. Good site to visit late late at night or early in the morning.
Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows if the library will do look ups on the microfilm and if they do, where one could make the request.....I live in Idaho and Sapulpa is more of a drive than I can make for a while. Any suggestions? Thank Lauri in Idaho
Dear Tristia, May I suggest that you go to Bristow and check out the newspaper there. Also, if you cannot what you need, The Oklahoma Historical Society's Newspaper library has a website through Oklahoma State government. They have every newspaper available in Oklahoma including Creek Co. Cindy Yocum Tristia Watson wrote: > Which newspapers are on film at the Sapulpa library?
